I replaced the points and condensers on both engines of a 1977 boat and I sincerely doubt that there is any other upgrade that makes as much of a difference for so little $. The boat starts up perfectly, gained 300-400 rpms at idle (had to adjust the idle), and both engines sync up perfectly while cruising. The installation was very simple (once I ordered the right kit) and took less than an hour for both engines. I put this off for a couple of season, mainly because I'm cheap, but it has made boating that much more enjoyable. Highly recommended for older boats with points.
