Ignitor Electronic Ignition Conversion Kits have proven themselves in applications ranging from race cars to tractors. It is the number one Electronic Ignition Conversion Kit to replace original mechanical points. A Pertronix Points Conversion kit allows you to run a stock distributor while improving the reliability and performance of your ignition system. The Pertronix Ignitor kits simply bolt to the distributor in place of the points assembly and provides a much more accurate trigger signal. This improves the timing accuracy and prevents ‘points bounce’ at higher rpm. The electronic technology also improves the dwell control to improve the spark output of the coil resulting in a hotter spark at the spark plug. With this dependable, self-contained, maintenance free electronic ignition system you'll never replace your points again.

A must for reliability.

I really like the idea of getting rid of points. I tried this in a 1961 MGB. I put it in and got no pulse to the coil, so no spark. I didn't have time to wait for a replacement, so the points went back in, sadly.

I bought this because I had my points get burned when the car sat for a few minutes with the ignition key "on" but not running. Car was running great, then very poorly. An electronic ignition removes that problem, but also provides other benefits - "works as advertized". The other reason to do this, IMHO, is that the quality of modern replacement points sets from the usual vendors is very bad. There are some good OEM replacements out there, but I have ordered several where the rubbing blocks melted and the mounting plates did not quite fit. This fits, and works great. I do carry a spare complete distributor with points in the car's boot, however. The one disadvantage is that if the electronic ignition fails, you can't fix it with a file and a screwdriver by the side of the road.JIM in NH
