This does what it is supposed to do. It takes some patience because inner spring compressors are a bit tricky. Follow all safety procedures, compressed springs are very dangerous. I had to use an iron pipe spacer to make it shorter and some hardened washers. Oil the threads!. The pipe spacer I added was about 4 inches and made the top stick out of the shock tower which made things easier. I used jacks and a lift to raise and lower the car and control arm to align the spring perch to remove /put in new spring. Oil the threads, use hardened washers if you have to add a washer. Worked fine.

Worked very well, had to take one jaw off on each end to get out but very easy to do. People say have to cut the rod but if you put it in the correct way and use a wrench to unthread from the bottom it works great. People use a impact and strip the threads. Don't use one not made for it. Did 4 large coils and no where on threads. Put nosieze on threads and it will last a long time.

I purchased this spring compressor in order to swap out the front shocks on my Silverado. The tool worked well and I did not feel unsafe at any time while the spring was compressed. The safety pins are not quite high enough to cover over the coils on the Silverado so unfortunately I had to go without using them, but the hooks locked on to the coil fully and when tight, the threaded shafts were not noticeably bent. I suspect for most cars the safety pins would work. It comes with a quality case and a nice instruction card. This was a quality tool for a reasonable price.

Worked great on the coil springs of my C20 truck. Had to cut the length of the threads to make it work but that’s not the tools fault, just happend to interfere with the cross member. Keeps you safe and makes the job easier!

iTS a nice tool. The idea is good to install in the inside of the spring but in my case the springs were too thick and not light enough to compress.

Worked for my need but was a little difficult to keep spring evenly compressed so that it is easy to remove compressor once spring is in place on car.

Initially used an outside pair to remove the first coil. Had to cut them to size. Impossible to reinstall with them, so purchased this one as I did have access through the top of the shock tower. Easily removed the second one with this center compressor. For installation, being leery of a fatal head injury, I used the outside pair (purchased elsewhere) to somewhat assist this inside one. Alternated tightening the center and outside ones to keep all tight in case of a failure. Measured the needed shrinkage to fit in shock tower to cradle - and cranked on bench to achieve this number. Once there, i gently removed the outside ones and gracefully carried the center one and coil to install. Lining up at top of tower was a little tricky. Had to loosen/tighten coil some to ensure alignment of rubber buffer and center of tower inside lip. Once in place, just loosened the compressor from top side (need to have top access for this type of compressor). Removing the compressor after coil is un-compressed was a little tricky also. I just un-threaded completely and fished the two threaded arms out through the top.Note: I did add a 4" pipe (and several thick washers) to the top of this compressor so I wouldn't have the threaded rod eventually poke down into bottom cradle while in use (cutting 4" off of threaded rod renders the same result).

Worked great on the old and new additions in my 87 GN, needed to add a pipe because if the way g body top mounts are there is no hole to pass through, but worked amazing, a tool I can trust. Don't forget to lube the threads before using!!!
