ANATOMY OF A PELICAN CASE

Ultimate Equipment Protection

For over 30 years Pelican has built a reputation for manufacturing the toughest cases in the world. As a matter of fact, we invented the category. Over these years we've seen our cases used for some fairly crazy activities...and important ones too.

Pelican Cases have been thrown out of helicopters in Iraq, floated through frigid fjords in Norway and rolled over by SUVs in Tanzania. With only a few scratches to show on the outside, contents inside are left unscathed. These are minor details for major bragging rights. And that is really what it's all about. Getting your gear from point A to point B in the condition it's meant to be in: intact and functional. Because it might contain a large format camera that will shoot next month's magazine cover or a heart defibrillator that could save a person's life, you can't put a price on it.

Stronger by Design

Pelican Cases are made with a proprietary combination of homo co-polymers, using an open cell core and solid wall construction, which is stronger and lighter than a solid core wall. Stainless steel pins are used in hinges and handles.

Watertight

The secret is the tongue and groove fit with a polymer o-ring acting as a waterproof seal.

Cool Under Pressure

Automatic Pressure Equalization Valve releases built-up air pressure while keeping water molecules out, resulting in a watertight case that is even easier to open.

Easy Roller

Stainless steel ball bearing wheels last longer and ride smoother. The nylon hub adjacent to the stainless steel is made to resist heat. The result is less wear and tear on the polyurethane wheel.

Double-Throw Latches

Stainless steel hasp protectors are a Pelican exclusive. The Double-Throw latches are smarter and easier to open: it's the classic "C" clamp design with a secondary movement that works like a pry bar to start the release and offers plenty of leverage to open with a light pull.

Nameplate

Custom engraved nameplates are available for a nominal fee.

Reinforced Padlock Protectors

Stainless steel reinforced padlock protectors provide added strength and extra security against cutting and theft.

Engineer who regularly travels for industrial machine installation and service. Fits everything I need in the field. Shown here is 62 lbs (28 kg) worth of gear. Super strong and durable. This box has more than a dozen international flights and no issues. No other travel service box has lasted as long. It has become our company standard for all service techs.

Best Pelican case I got

Purchased this in the hopes of safely transporting my small PC on vacation for gaming/movies away from home. Exceptional customization to fit my rig and additional equipment with room to spare. Was surprised at the padding thickness on the non customizable exterior walls and the added protection they give. Never had the misfortune of getting it wet, so I can't speak to its water resistance capabilities. Rollers and handle seem beefy AF and I expect to be able to use this thing for several years to come!

I've been patronizing Pelican for decades since I discovered them to protect my diving equipment. Then I used them for my photography and gun equipment. Then i used these for about anything when traveling. These are the best built hard case you can get without question in terms of performance and durability. This latest case was purchased to house the Ikan teleprompter which Ikan was selling their own branded hard case, but I opted to trust Pelican once again. The dimensions were similar and the teleprompter case was a drop in to this Pelican case. There was a bit more room for this, but it also allows me to house the iPad purchased for the teleprompter as well as manual and charging accessories.Highly recommended. I wouldn't go for any other brand.

Pelican has become the standard in cases, to which all others are compared, and for good reason. They are well built, water-proof, and the included foam allows a custom fit for the items inside. I feel I could drop this case from the loading platform and it would easily protect the contents. This particular case is a bit heavy, so the included retractable handle and wheels make for easy transport. They are a bit pricey, but when you want the best protection, these cases are well worth the price. I'm using this case for my audio mixer and accessories, and feel confident that they are well protected. Moving them from our practice space to gigs is easy as everything fits in one place. Highly recommended.

Recomendado.

Fantastic case! I also have the Pelican 1510 w/padded dividers, but now that I'm doing more and more video I needed a larger case. This case is the perfect size for me--large enough to handle all my gear, but not so big that when it's fully loaded I can't carry it! I've been using Pelican cases for over 30 years now, and I've never had a single problem with them. As a photographer/videographer/filmmaker, I travel extensively and often to very remote locations, and I know that my Pelican cases are going to protect my gear and get everything there in one piece. Oh, be sure to get the padded dividers--once you try them you'll never go back to the pick and pluck foam because you can change the layout all time for different gear without having to buy new (and expensive) foam sets every time. Lastly, the lid organizer for this and other Pelican cases is a great add-on, really helps to organize those small items like flash cards, lens cleaner, lens caps, batteries, etc. The only complaint I've ever had about Pelican is their price, but if you shop around you can get good deals, and, these things are built to last forever!

This case works exactly for what I needed. The interior foam is easy to cut/tear to the exact size for whatever you are carrying. I like that it has four layers of foam, two of which are three inches thick and can be cut out to shapes. What I carry requires two levels of parts and these layers of foam work perfectly. Be ready to open it up when going through airport security. Any hard case is a "red flag" to TSA. Even though it has holes for putting locks, don't bother with the TSA locks... they will get lost or broken. I like the pull out handle and roller wheels to make it a Pullman-like case. Much easier to transport. So far, it has held up very well during six business trips. Pelican has a wide variety of choices to get just the size you need. They are pricy, but worth it.

I am a videographer and I bought 2 of these case for several reasons. Great case, strong, light, everything is quality until you fly with them. I don't know why you would by these cases other than to fly with them(protect your equipment). The "WARNING" part are the latches on the case. They snap shut but do not lock. My first experience was at baggage claim when my equipment came out of the shoot first them my case. I wish baggage handlers took there job more serious. It is an easy fix. you need to buy TSA approved locks to secure the case from opening. There are holes beside the latches to secure the case Top to bottom.http://www.amazon.com/Master-Lock-4688D-Accepted-Luggage/dp/B000WO84Z2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1392644536&sr=8-2&keywords=tsa+locksor a luggage strap to wrap around the case.Once again I love these cases and would buy them again, that is why this review is difficult, because it is a huge problem but a cheap and easy fix....

This is a great case for storing your camera gear. I keep my gear in it for serveral reasons. One, in case of an emergency I can grab this case and go. Two, water proof, dust proof, shock proof. Three, when working from a car it easy to transfer gear to a bag. Four, when I take it to an event I can lock it and run a cable through it and lock it to pole or something that is preminently attached. The padded insert works as advertised. A little tricky setting up. Use something to cover the hook and loop till you have in the exact place then remove the cover. This is a great case with plenty of room for storage. Not a carryon case for airlines. It is heavy when loaded. The pull handle and wheels work great. For the best protection for your gear buy a pelican case. This one is plenty big. Use extra padding and double stack your gear for maximum storage. You can't go wrong with a PELICAN.

This is a great case, I bought the liner for the lid as well and now I have room for additional photo equipment as well. It serves well as a the case that will hold just about everything. When I am going out on a shoot where I only need a few things I use my old case or Aktiv 400 back pack, but if I need more equipment than they will hold the Pelican works perfectly... It is built like a tank and the handle and wheels work great. I am only sorry that from what I understand it is a little too big to carry on an airplane. I'll have to test that theory... I will probably buy a second Pelican case as my collection of photo equiment grows past what this one will carry... My advice is to buy it....
