About this item

  • Pure PVC Tubing: The black airline tubing is made of pure PVC material. It is really flexible and scratch-proof. Its thickened design allows for rough handling and repeated use.
  • Multipurpose: The aquarium airline tubing is ideal for most basic aeration setup. Great for fish tanks, aquariums, hydroponics, ponds, water gardens, siphon systems, laboratories, etc.
  • Standard Size Airline Tubing: 6.5 ft. in length and 3/16" in diameter (4 mm in inner diameter & 6 mm in outer diameter). Work great on most common air systems, such as oxygen, CO₂ or other high-pressure systems.
  • Kink-Resistant: The wear-resistant aquarium hose can be freely twisted without kinking. The smooth interior surface effectively prevents sediment accumulation and allows for smooth air flow.
  • Safe & Reusable: The fish tank black PVC tubing is safe and reliable to resist cracking, high temperature, corrosion and leakage. Dependable for long-time use.

People comment on its grayish tone, I find that it makes it less noticeable. Not too thin or thick ez to work with

This is nice, flexible airline tubing with a slightly darker color. I like all of that, especially that it feels more flexible than regular, transparent hoses that I have used in the past. The one thing I am not sure about is its use in CO2 systems. First, despite the product description, the label on the product does not mention CO2 use, only airline use. Second, it is typically not recommended to use regular airline hoses for CO2 because of the chemical properties. My issues were more physical. Given the softness of the material, I was not able to get the hose permanently inserted into my CO2 couplers. It would always slip out again. My CO2 hoses are all much stiffer. So, as much as I like the color and the flexibility, I cannot recommend the product for use in CO2 systems.

Clear, strong, flexible and extremely versatile - from the lab to the fish tank to the kitchen to the garden. The length provided means the tubing is adaptable to a multitude of projects, and can be cut down and sized as needed (always better to have more than to have less). The diameter of the tubing is industry standard and so has fit easily and perfectly to various pumps and fluid outputs. The plastic has a thickness which makes it strong, and non-kinking, and durable. But if you need it sterile, I'd suggest a steaming over boiling. One review here mentioned outgassing, and this is true. Even fresh from the packaging, the tubing did not have much of a "plastic" scent. Still, flushing the tubing with warm water before using for any project is probably a good idea.

While setting up a new fish tank, I needed to acclimatize my new neocaridina shrimp to the tank where they were going to live permanently. If you don't know anything about fish tank setup, introducing living shrimp to a new environment can be really stress the shrimp. It can kill them if the water is a different enough chemical balance. This allowed me to do the "drip method" of water acclimatization. I just tied the tube in a loose knot, and started it on a siphon from the new tank into the jug where my new shrimp were sitting in the tank water they were used to. After around 1/2 hour, this brought up the water to half again as much as they were in already. Then I let them sit for a bit, and added a second round of water drip by drip over another 45 minutes to bring them up another half again.I let them sit for another 10 minutes, then introduced them to the tank. No stress, no mess. The shrimp were calm and healthy throughout. They are now super happy and have been thriving for four days in the new environment. This tubing made it all a painless process and kept me from having to sit there and babysit a larger diameter tube to make sure it didn't flood them with too much "new" water at once. This was also long enough that I had no issues starting the flow and was able to easily avoid "drinking" fish tank water by leaving a longer "tail". YUCK.I have a lot of it left over "untouched" from where I cut off what I needed to use. I will most likely end up using it to set up a CO2 diffuser and other air tubing needs, as well as for the same thing again later if I decide to get more shrimp or other animals. If I really have to.. I can use it as strong plastic temporary "rope" for tying something up (but not using it to suspend anything) because it's so flexible. I don't really see that as something I will really do, though. At around $8, it's not bad at all!

This is 10 meters of airline tubing. I used it for circulating my dirty resin cleaning solution around a UV light. This is to help coagulate the resin particles to better filter them out of the solution. This would be perfect for the aquarium hobbyist that might want to run multiple tanks off one air pump.
