The manufacturers of the Earth Pigments I purchase from Vermont in USA come from a parent company Sage de France and the particle size distribution ranges from about 45 µm to about 120 µm. However, when I make my original oil pigments, I am utilizing a finer portion of that distribution and by using the very high-quality sieve, I can shift the particle size from 45 µm to 74 µm. The recommended particle size if I would like to go to a slightly different specification Amazon provides those additional sieves that will help you depending on what you're trying to accomplish by classifying the particles you are separating. It's a very high quality, stainless steel construction and can be used when cleans properly for reprodu time and time again. I highly recommend and is a very economical and modest price. This and these filters are brilliant and have so much uses. The 8" Sieve has .003mm wire clothing making it interesting to sift, sort, and use this time-tested tool. May have to go back and get additional sizes to continue working on projects benefitting from this product.

I misread something and definitely got the wrong sized mesh, but that is a me problem and not a problem with the sieve. The mesh is incredibly tight, I got it to sieve pigments after I grind rocks and ochres, but even my finest pigments are not getting through that sieve, not even water, so if you need something with this tight of a filter in a lab or something then it is great.It is very well made, no sharp edges or signs or the metal being anything other than stainless steel, so no signs of rust or discoloring. It is an excellent tool!
