It took some getting used to originally, but now I love it. I might buy another so I can do multiple books at a time

A little on the small side, but perfect for novel-size books. This is the first book press I've used for my book binding, and it's worked perfectly so far. I wish I could get it to be a bit tighter on the books, but the natural softness of the wood only lets you screw it in so far. Sometimes it's a bit tricky to open it wide to put the book in because the screws get caught on the drilled holes, but it's not a real issue, just a slight inconvenience.

I've found that flower presses work well for my bookbinding hobby and are much easier to acquire than things marketed as book presses, so I'm so pleased that that style of press is becoming more prevalent AS a book press. This is one of those such presses, however, unlike my repurposed flower presses, the boards on this press are at least twice as thick and much, MUCH better at compressing a book. I really appreciate the size of these boards, as they are less apt to curve under the pressure and result in a flatter book. There was quite a lot of hardware that came with this press, though, far more than I bothered to use. I don't put a nut between my boards, because I want them to be able to fully compress, and I don't bother with a cap on the end of my bolts because sometimes I want to take the press apart fully when adjusting the book within it. The wing bolts are nice and big and easy to spin into place. All in all, I really like this book press, and it has become my first and favorite when making books.

It works but most of the books I bind are normal 8.5x11 and the paper doesn’t fit in it but it helps to hold the paper in place as I drill the hold and lace the paper together

I think the book press is good, it fits most sizes of paperback books. It’s great for bookbinding as well as just making your own special edition covers. So far I haven’t had any trouble with it, I think it does the job well.ProsIt’s most books.ConsNone

You definitely get what you pay for..as far as function is concerned, it works - but it is finicky. the holes were not bore out of the wood properly, so it gets stuck on the metal bars often, and is impossible to tighten all the way because the other side just keeps spinning, and if you tighten the other side, the wood gets stuck even worse 😫 idk if I am explaining this enough to make sense, iykyk.

This bamboo book press is exactly as described. The bamboo and the hardware are all good quality and are the correct dimensions. The bamboo is cut cleanly and sanded smooth. Please see my photos.
