Used for about 6 months on a screened in covered porch, then it wouldn’t turn off. I unplugged it and it was so hot the plastic on the back started to melt. A fire hazard, I’m afraid to use again.2/23/24 UPDATE: The company contacted me and were very nice and offered to replace the Outdoor Dimmer, I am currently using the replacement dimmer with no issues. If it has problems in the future I will post, as of now I am very happy.

Whenever our local power supply goes out (occurs regularly) I have to reset this to ‘sensor’ mode. Even if it’s just a blip in the power. Would be nice if they included a memory function.

The only thing that throws you off is the output is marked as DC it’s not This is the answer if you have string lights that you want dimmed and on at sundown

Easy to use, and very nice looking addition to your outdoor lights. Very happy with the purchase.

I bought this because it didn’t have a remote control - nothing to lose, no dead batteries. It turns out to be a very feature rich unit. The dimmer, night sensor, and timer functionality can all be applied independently of each other, and in any combination. There is no need to tape over the photocell sensor to make the lights go on in daylight. See the user manual photographs. With the sensor and timer toggled off, it is just a dimmer. With the sensor off, the lights are on immediately for 1, 3 or 5 hours before turning off. There are ten total dimming settings in even increments. Dimming the lights decreases the power draw proportionally.I did not measure any additional power draw when the lights were on, and there was zero power draw with the lights off.The device outputs direct current (DC), which is odd out of a pronged plug. My light string already has a rectifier to turn wall-outlet alternating current (AC) into the DC the LEDs need. I didn’t notice a difference between being plugged into the dimmer or the wall.It loses all settings when power is removed. When power is restored, it defaults to sensor = off, dimmer = dimmest setting, and timer = off. Basically the lights turn on at their dimmest level until you push buttons.

Everything works as it should and with no fear of loosing a remote control. The duck to dawn works as advertised. The only negative (small one) I would say for me is that, this smart controller doesn't remember the last setting of brightness. It comes on always in the lowest setting for brightness. I wish it was smart enough to come on at dusk with the last brightness used, but that is not a deal killer for me. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one if I need too.
