WHEN SHOULD THE IDLE CONTROL VALVE BE REPLACED

4

Incorrect Idle Speed

The car will feel like it’s going to stop as your RPMs drop. An IAC valve that is left open will cause an excessive idle speed. Even though the engine is not running, it will still run very fast

Bad IAC valves can cause surging conditions at idle. The RPMs will rise and then drop to normal

5

Check Engine Light Is On

The automatic car sensor oversees the IAC valve to ensure its adequate function. The sensor triggers the check engine light if it detects a fault

6

Car Stalling

A bad IAC valve can cause a vehicle’s engine not to get enough airflow to move, causing it to stop completely

7

The Car Won’t Start

In extreme cases, the IAC valve may prevent air from entering the engine when it is functioning, resulting in an engine that won’t start or crank

I had a code for a faulty idle air control valve after replacing it 2 yrs ago. I paid a little more but got a good one. Durango idles down properly and fairly quickly on warm days. Fit was perfect, easy to install, performance restored and this particular one felt heavier, probably better quality all together. Still a value for the money paid to keep a 23 yr old SUV going daily

Less than 50 days and the IAC Valve failed already. Worked fine for 45-50 days on a car driven 2 days a week !!! ) Very Poor Quality. Sure the price is cheap, but you get what you pay for. Seller is no help. Bought and installed a factory IAC and problem is solved. I'd pass on this one and spend money on a quality product. Live and Learn.
