This is an exceptional trimmer.Tl;dr: best quality, but you have to buy another expansion kit for one of the most commonly used sizes, the ⅜" insert.The good: It is better designed than any other barrel trimmer I have used and the fit and finish is just awesome. The carbide that come on it are great quality and spooky sharp. The barrel inserts are also amazing quality. Everything is machined perfectly and it's just great. Excellent case, fast shipping, overall, its a A+ tool.The bad: the sizes of the barrel inserts don't make sense to be the standard set. The two most common pen barrel sizes are 7mm (included) and ⅜", which is only available in the additional inserts kit. I don't turn many slimline, mostly pens that use ⅜" or larger. It does, however, include 7mm(6.15mm), "0" which seems to be 7.3mm (designed for 8mm od brass), 10mm (9.1mm for 10mm od brass), and 27/64 (25/64 measured for 27/64 od brass.) I would have given it 5 stars had they simply sold the same cutter head with just 7mm, ⅜" and 10mm, with the others as optional add-ons, but throwing the most common size that's not for slimline in a separate kit, just cut the b.s. and sell the whole kit together for $80.

The Cutter Head with Carbide Blades is awesome but Reamer/Pilot Shafts are soft metal that twists. Making them unusable and since cutter doesn't fit other Pilot Shafts it's USELESS.

This is the second barrel trimmer that I have purchased from Amazon. The first was a kit from Tondiamo that also included a mandrel. The mandrel was fine, the trimmer would not cut anyting. Even after sharpening it still wouldn't cut. I purchased the O"SKOOL Barrel trimmer Kit with no sharpening cutter head and it cuts clean and fast. It did cost about $20.00 more but well worth it.

Excellent quality and accurately, the carbide cutters are sharp, and the tool does a good job of cleaning the inside of brass tubes. Works perfectly in drill press, I'm not sure I would try to use with a hand drill. Only wish it came with a 3/8 pilot cutter shaft

I've been turning pens for over 8 years. This trimmer is brilliant. I've trimmed well over 50 pen blanks with this cutter, wood, acrylic, and wood and acrylic combos. Mount the bank in your drill press and GO SLOW ! If you push it into your blank hard and fast it will tear it up, it's very sharp and catches. This little trimmer is light years ahead of the original HSS trimmers, plus when the cutters dull (I'm guessing at some point they will) simply unscrew and rotate. Well worth the couple buck extra.

This does a nice job squaring off a pen blank, but I think it's a bit overkill. I tried to use a light touch, but I've ruined several expensive pen blanks when the blade catches and rips it apart. The 10mm pulled the brass tube out and now I can't get it off the barrel. Going back to the cheaper type.

I tried the cheaper pen barrel trimmers and wound up returning them. I got this one this past week and got to make a pen this weekend. It performed amazingly! If you're looking for a cheaper version of the recommended brand (WP) like I was, I say try this one. I'm just getting in to making pens so I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg for the recommended barrel trimmer (WP).
