I like the highly polished brass, the solid spike. What I don't like, other than the price, is the method of installation. What I did was I used a threaded plug (a quarter inch one) and inserted that into the base of the cane and then screwed the spike into that. It's much more solid. I don't see why anyone would screw a metal tip into wood and then put pressure on it. It just seems a bit flimsy.I also wish that they offered more than just the medium because it's pretty small and there's nowhere to order a large.I guess I need to contact the company. Otherwise, it arrived quickly and it's well made and once I adjusted the installation process it's solid and works well and looks good, too.It was cheaper ordered from the dot com Even with import costs and shipping. So if you're in Canada, keep that in mind.Recommended with the knowledge that you're going to pay a lot for this product and maybe have to adjust the installation to make it more secure.

Generally I feel good about the purchase straight forward install directions, BUT rubber foot came loose and I lost it, so I used the other one that I purchased for another project and that one also the rubber foot came loose, thankful for the fact it happened at a supermarket and I didn't loose that one, so there's something there about the rubber foot coming off. Lastly there's no replacement for the foot on it's own.....? I don't want to purchase a complete set .....set is on the pricey side @almost $ 25.00.need a replacement foot but not paying $25 for it. Should sell these by themselves as a replacement item due to use.

Very easy to install once you realize the 3rd peice is already inside the black rubber peice. Looks great and if needed takes color well.

This is the Best dual use hiking stickcane tip on the market! It has three parts, and comes in three Sizes. (Small, Medium, & Large) There is a rubber foot tip, an Alpine Spike, which screws into the wood, and a brass or chrome ferrule that fits on the bottom of the stick cane. It has a hole in the bottom where the Alpine Spike fits through. The rubber tip is well supported inside, and screws on the upper part of the Alpine Spike. Providing secure traction. The Alpine Spike is covered by the rubber foottip. When required the foot can be unscrewed and the Alpine Spike used in inclement weather, deep soil or sand where the spike is required. Once back on a surface where the spike will mar it, the foot can be secured in place. Most if not all of the other rubber tips can not be secured on the bottom of the stick. They are pressed on and can be knocked or pop off. With the metal tips alone they are hard to keep covered, and you can not use them on a surface they could mar, or not able to grip.
