I have 2 spare Philips GU10 LED bulbs so I want to put them to use. Compared with those track lights that have built in bulbs, replaceable bulb ones offer more flexibility. However, it is very hard to put bulb in, and you have to twist and bend the cables. There is also a glass cover plus a metal clip and you have to fight the tension of the bulb and cables to get the cover installed. Once did, it works great and looks clean and modern. Also, it has good heat dissipation, not even warm after 30 mins. I would recommend. Satco Nuvo makes good track lights.

I purchased 3 extra of these lights to add to an existing track. These are quality perfect exact matches to my originals. While they were packaged excellent, one of the plastic rings had broken during shipping. I notified the seller and asked them to just replace the ring without having to return the entire light. They responded next day and shipped me an entire new light within two days! Customer service is excellent!

PROs:easy to install, looking good, relatively easy adjustment/positioning of the headCONs:the bulb is sitting in unsupported (held only by a steel ring) which makes it hard to position it properly in the tight space. My solution: use bulbs no longer than 2.09 "/5.1 cm/ and preferably with anti-UV glass (that would allow you to get rid of 3mm thick UV filter provided by manufacturer thus giving you more space and better cooling).

These track lights were installed by the builder in my new home. While I like the design and appearance of these track lights, the base (the black cubic area that connects to the track) is made of cheap plastic which breaks (fractures). In the past few years, I have needed to replace four of these heads due to the exact same failure. In fact, I have replaced the heads (due to failure) more often than I have changed light bulbs. If you are installing new track lighting, I would highly recommend that you avoid this track light system. If you are hoping to replace a lamp head in an existing track light, you might seriously consider replacing the entire track light, instead. Otherwise, you forever be replacing lamp heads (as they fail) every year or two. If you decide to keep the existing track light, you might consider ordering at least three of these as spares. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is a "trick" to removing and replacing the lamp heads. You should probably practice with the replacement lamp head before you climb the ladder. To remove: (1) pull down on the black plastic base cover so it slides back; (2) while holding the sliding part back, rotate 90 degrees so conductor prongs line up with the slot in the track; (3) pull head out of track (this should require no force; if head does not come out of the track, then the prongs are not aligned with the track slot). To install: (1) pull down on the black plastic base cover so it slides back; (2) while holding the sliding part back, insert the end into the track slot, then rotate 90 degrees to engage the conductors; (3) release the base cover; (4) adjust the angle of the light as desired.

The lamp mounting with this item is a bit unusual: The head of the GU10 bulb (not supplied) is affixed to the gimbal ring and then a SEPARATE power end connector is clipped onto the two electrical connector posts on the back of the bulb. It's the bulb itself which supports the power end connector. Now, isn't THAT just NOVEL! I say "bare-bones" for this item because its design is about the simplest (and lowest cost) of all track heads I found. 'Course, this design also makes for other possible problems like the end connector coming loose - or even the bulb, itself, while trying to readjust the track head. ('Haven't tried it yet - 'just anticipating....what with prior experiences with similar "weaknesses" in other products. Yeah, I'm considered to be an "expert" in the field. Believe me, I've earned three doctorates in the School of Hard Knocks!)I ordered LED bulbs instead of halogens for this track lighting project and I am finding the LED bulbs are somewhat smaller in diameter, making the spring clips in the ring push the front of the bulbs to the outside of the ring mountings. This won't be a problem unless the restriction of the cooling vanes in the bulbs with this non-centered mounting give problems. 'Not really anticipating a cooling problem, though - these are only 5-watt LED's. From what I saw in other LED bulbs fitting into OTHER track head assemblies, the problem is usually reversed - the LED bulb not being able to fit into the assembly in lieu of the regular halogen. I used these LED bulbs: (copy & paste)http://www.amazon.com/gp/r.html?R=WY5BL37WGREP&C=3T5MUR8F9569O&H=CSR8QGOASTLJYILKD533A5FBBX8A&T=C&U=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fdp%2FB008OCAST4%2Fref%3Dpe_385040_30332200_pe_309540_26725410_item(EVER 5W GU10 LED Bulb, 50W Equivalent, Warm White @ $8.99 ea.)Also, getting these mounted into the ring/clip assemblies won't be a problem if you're the least bit nimble with your fingers. 'Just hafta push on one of the spring clips while inserting (and slightly rotating) the bulb into place. 'Piece a cake after you've done it once. All in all, I'm satisfied that this is exactly what I had expected when ordering. That's why I'm giving this item 5 stars. Just be aware of the info stated above so's not to come up with any disappointments later!THIS IS A FOLLOW-UP (added later)concerning how to alleviate a possible problem during adjusting the track head after it's mounted on the track:After working with these, I've found that you'll not have trouble with adjustments of future lighting positions. In order to insure the power end connector or the bulb from becoming detached during adjustments, all you need do is form or bend the wiring going from the track head to the end power connector to conform to the new position. The wire is fairly stiff and might pull something loose if you don't include this little ditty with your adjustment.Oh, what we'll do to have a "bare-bones" track head! I think it's well worth it, though.

We replaced the halogen lighting over the sink with LED lights, and the old track heads were too small for the new bulbs. These heads were cheap, and looked good in place of the old ones. My only gripe is that while one of them just installed and worked, the other one refused to light when plugged in. After comparing the two heads carefully, I found that one of the power pins was sitting at a slightly different angle on the 'bad' unit. I bent the pin a little with pliers, and now it works, but I really shouldn't have had to do that. Poor quality control, I guess.
