First one they sent was rusty. I tried to clean it but won't come clean so I couldn't read the size. They replaced it, 3 stars for the hassle otherwise its good.

I do a lot of fabrication, and therefore am always working with a variety of different threads when trying to fabricate pieces to match any fasteners that are already there. I used to check the treads using a thread gauge or a tap and die set... This set of finders is too easy and save a lot of time.

It's steel which makes it extremely durable (though not rust proof) and the labels are laser etched so you can't just scratch them off (I tried).This is a good thread checker for nuts and bolts, IF you can get them free. Let me explain.The problem is that the cable is threaded through all the checkers and the end ferrules mean you can't take one of them off to use in a tight spot. This thread checker is only good if you can remove the bolt/nut and take it to this thread checker [probably hanging or mounted on a wall for easy access].If you have an existing and or missing bolt/nut in a fixed location, it's difficult to corral the slack and all the nonrelevant checkers into one big giant ball while you try to find the right one and then rotate to see if it's the correct fit.

Every home and garage should have one of these! If you tinker in your garage or are a do-it-yourself type of person that does not believe in tossing everything to the landfill this is great! Never worry about purchasing the correct nut or bolt again, no need to remove a nut or bolt from your project to match up at the hardware store. If time is a short or you cannot get out and you need to order your replacement / project nuts and bolts you now know the correct size with no guessing! The quality is good, they function great. Threads are accurate and clean. A true value over the plate style and a money time saver! Definitely 5 stars, if 10 could be given I would give it 11!

Nice to have both imperial and metric in the wide variety of sizes for checking both male and female threads. Would definitely recommend this for most home/shop/garage usage.
