One of the coolest things I've ever ordered.Have you ever entered Lowe's or your other favorite home store improvement with a nut or bolt or screw in hand not knowing what you needed as a replacement for one you dropped or lost or snapped? Well, I have. But never again!I went to my drawer o'screws and was able to identify the size and thread of every one of the sizes there. Metric or standard, this Nut and Bolt Thread Checker knew. Now, instead of standing in the aisle of the store trying the checker there, I can do it from the comfort of my couch (well, workshop) and then order what I need right from Amazon. :-) It's also handy for determining drill bit size as well. It's sturdy and well made as well.If you are buying for a craftsman (or woman) in your family or set of friends, this should be at the top of your list. I have several bolt checking boards like this throughout my shop. This is my fourth. This bolt checker is nice because the different sizes are closer together, saving space. It also include non threaded drill holes, so you can put anything round/square in them and see what hole size you should drill. For example, a thick wire, bolt, hitch pin, smaller bar stock, etc.This bolt checker is relatively complete with all the commonly used sizes. Some very small sizes are not included, and of course some of the larger sizes are missing, but those are uncommon. The larger threaded bolt sections are hollow inside, I suppose to save on material.I was able to mount this with two drywall screws into a vertical 2x4 that was mounted on my wall, and there's still some clearance left on each side. The compact size makes it perfect for areas where you don't have much space.Ideas on where you could mount it:On the inside lid of a tool boxOn the inside or outside of a cabinet doorOn the door to your shop/garageOn a wall or post near your work benchOn the vertical post of a car liftCan also be mounted horizontal, there are plenty of mounting slots. I like that they made them slots, so alignment doesn't matter much.I give this bolt checker an A+ because of the holes and compact size.
