Very good quality. I am borderline MD/LG so ordered the 2XL size and paired them with size large Fox River Extra Heavy Double Ragg Mittens for a perfect fit between the choppers, mittens and my hands. The combo keeps my hands toasty warm in most Minnesota winter days. If the temperature starts to go below zero I just add a small HotHands Hand Warmer to each mitten. The choppers have very supple leather and provide an easy grip on snowblower handles, etc. You will want to add some waterproofing (Mink oil, etc) to keep them in good condition.

Soft and supple are the keys to a good “chopper” mitt. Paired with a good wool mitten they can’t be beat for warmth. These are made of deer hide and that makes a big difference compared to cow or pig hide.

I wear large or xl gloves and the 3x fit perfectly. I can wear a liner when it’s cold or without when it’s warmer. I’m using them for snowboarding because I find most mittens are too hot for me. Nice leather.

These mittens are great over a pair of regular finger gloves that are wool and windproof. I always treat my leather gloves and boots with bee's wax. These choppers suck up the wax, maintain their dexterity, and soft feel. They do run a little small but the xl fir great over a pair of large wool gloves. Perfect for Chicago and Twin City's winters

Northstar Men's Tan Deerskin Chopper Mitten (Unlined). I bought a pair of Dachstein 4-ply Extreme Warmth Austrian Boiled Wool Preformed AlpIne Mittens (Maine is cold in winter, especially while snowblowing). And I needed a pair of deerskin leather choppers as shells for these mittensDachstein Mittens - my hand measured a hair larger than 7.0 inches so I ordered the next size, 7.5 inches and it's a good fit. The material is quite thick so finding the correctly fitting shells might have been a problem. I saw a review for the Dachstein mittens that referenced the North Star Unlined Deerskin Chopper. The guy had similar hand measurements as me (he bought a size 8 Dachstein and XXL North Star) So, I bought the choppers in size XXL (double X Large). I was worried. But choppers fit over the mittens very well. Not tight, maybe a hair loose but that is good if the choppers become soaked with water, ice and snow. The Northstar Men's Tan Deerskin Choppers are well-made and buttery soft while still feeling sturdy. But, as other reviewers noted, they run small.I am so satisfied that a day after receiving my choppers, I ordered a second pair to store away for future use. I am tired of finding an ideal product and, then months or years later, its no longer available. Amazon had the second pair in stock and it's a good price

The quality of the deerskin mittens seems good. I ordered them for my husband. His hand measured size L on the sizing chart. I ordered one size up and got him an XL. When it arrived, it was too tight so I returned it and ordered an XXL. The XXL fits comfortably, but when he uses the knit liners we bought separately, then it's a little too snug. He will keep them and use them, but I wish they were just a little bigger.

I own a pair of large deerskin chopper mitts. I ordered these XL to put thicker rag wool liners into for colder temps. These XL gloves were a size or two SMALLER than the large size I own. They fit my wife's small hands without liners, but that was about it. They look to be good quality leather that would last a long time, but I will never know as I can only get my hands into them without ANY liners at all. Sizing needs to be fixed on their sale site. These XL are mediums.
