Your cart is empty.The specific gravity (SC) scale measures the sugar content of your beer or wine. The scale is between 0. 760 - 1. 150 take an initial reading before fermentation and one after fermentation is finished to find the alcohol content. The potential abv scale give you the potential alcohol by volume percentage, the reading must be taken before fermentation. The sugar per liter gives you the grams of sugar per liter. The hydrometer is calibrated to give an accurate reading when the liquid is at 68F (20C). to use the hydrometer, fill a Test jar with the sample. You can use the tube that the hydrometer comes with or purchase a Test jar separately. Place the hydrometer in the liquid making sure that it is completely suspended and not touching the sides of the Test jar. Take the reading on the scale at the surface of the liquid.

Product was the same hydrometer I broke. This one does not come with a tall cylinder to float it in. That was ok with me because I already have one. Product was well packed in it's own small box with bubble wrap and was sent in a padded envelope. Pretty much no chance of damage.

Bought this for measuring specific gravity and works as needed.The original hydrometer sent to me ended up being a tralle/proof standard hydrometer. I contacted Amazon via app and they sent me another hydrometer (the correct one) quickly with out problem and allowed me to keep the incorrect hydrometer as well.Overall experience was great abd product works as expected

This hydrometer reads "1.00" in distilled water. In distilled alcohol it sinks like a rock. This hydrometer does NOT test down to 0.76 SG. It is not even MARKED to read that low. This is probably a good hydrometer for HEAVIER THAN WATER liquids. It has no value for testing distilled alcohol. Again this hydrometer is not even marked to read liquids at 0.76 SG. This was never manufactured in the first place to support the claims advertised.

Received quickly, and it was packed securely. Seems to be decent quality. My only beef is that for beer making, you MUST use a large cylinder in order to get a reading. The plastic tube that came with it, is not tall enough to allow for a reading on beer that has finished fermenting. Part of the reason I bought this model was that the description specifically indicated that the storage tube was also sufficiently deep enough to be used to get SG readings.

This was tested against distilled water and read out right at the line. It includes color coding to be able to determine when you should move to the next step for your alcohol of choice. It is very legible and smooth - no bubbles stick to the outside of mine to affect the reading when I spin it even a bit.
