Was buying B+W until they went woke on their packaging and started shipping glass in cloth bags. These items are fragile and need a hard case for storage and bag transport. The NiSi is similarly optically flawless, and the threads are well defined and cut. Thin, however female side threads are deep enough that lens caps fit securely and don't fall out. Will be NiSi forward.

Really nice metal build and optical quality with hardly any ghosting, I'd say on the same level as B+W filters, and now I'm glad I have alternatives for either of these when purchasing new filters.

I needed a UV filter for my new Viltrox 75mm F1.2 PRO, and found that my usual brand (B+W) has gotten kind of pricey. So I decided to try this NiSi. I have to say I'm impressed at the premium feel and clarity of the glass. Even the packaging was nice. The knurled edges will make this easy to remove down the road. I've only taken a few test shots with it on, but I can already tell this is a keeper. People debate whether UV filters are even necessary, but I consider them a small investment to protect the larger investment of a quality lens.

The NiSi 40.5mm UHC UV Protection Filter is an essential gem in any photographer's toolkit. From the moment I incorporated this filter into my photography gear, I realized the significant impact it has on image quality, color accuracy, and overall protection. One of the standout features of the UHC UV Protection Filter is its ability to provide a safeguard against ultraviolet light. It effectively blocks out UV rays that can lead to unwanted haziness and color shifts, ensuring that my images maintain their natural brilliance and clarity. This protection is particularly crucial when shooting in bright outdoor conditions or at higher altitudes. The quality of the filter's glass is immediately apparent. The UHC filter is designed with premium multi-coated optical glass that minimizes reflections, ghosting, and lens flares. This level of attention to detail translates into images that are free from distortions and artifacts, allowing for the true essence of the scene to shine through. The filter's slim profile design ensures compatibility with various lenses without causing vignetting. This design consideration is a testament to NiSi's commitment to providing functional and practical solutions for photographers.Using the NiSi UHC UV Protection Filter doesn't compromise image quality in any way. The filter is designed to maintain color accuracy and sharpness, so there's no need to worry about a reduction in image clarity or vibrancy.Additionally, the filter serves as an extra layer of protection for the front element of my lenses. It shields against dust, moisture, and accidental scratches without affecting image quality, giving me peace of mind when shooting in challenging environments. In conclusion, the NiSi 40.5mm UHC UV Protection Filter is an investment that pays off in superior image quality, color accuracy, and lens protection. This is a review of the NiSi UHC UV Protection Filter, in 46mm, with an ASIN of B0BM79ZL4Z.Short version (TL;DR) - Negative: Green lens flare artifact. Neutral: Same big case for all sizes. Positives: Sturdy. Smudge-resistant. Nicely machined. Lens cap compatible.Long version …As my title is quite the spoiler, I should probably address that directly. In situations where I had intense lens flares - i.e. shooting toward the sun at sunset, a significant green artifact appeared in the lens flares. This doesn’t happen with my hardware without this filter, so I think it’s a solid bet that the filter is at least contributing to the issue, if not creating it outright. Anyway …Negative:* Green Lens Flare Artifact - as noted above, this appears to introduce a green artifact to intense lens flares. I’m including a sunset picture that demonstrates what I’m talking about. The effect doesn’t appear to occur with less intense lens flares, it’s worth noting.Neutral:* One Fixed Case Size - for the larger filter sizes, this won’t be as comical as it was for this one, but the wee little 46mm filter I’m using came in a case that absolutely dwarfed it. This isn’t a pro or a con, but I found it humorous enough to mention.Positives:* Sturdy - this has taken a few hits it shouldn’t have, but I’m quite happy they were to it and not to my lens. As yet, there’s not a mark on it. I’m favorably impressed in that regard.* Smudge-resistant - more than a few times I’ve reached for the camera, thinking I had the lens cap on it, and, instead, gotten a nice firm grip right across this filter. On other occasions, I’ve moved around too quickly in tight spaces with the camera on a tripod, catching my ear, nose, or hair on the filter (in place of the lens). This has rarely left any kind of trace at all. They really don’t seem to be kidding about the oleophobic (oil-hating) coatings et al.* Nicely Machined - this has very well made grip ridges around much of its circumference and is generally very nicely made. Unlike certain other filters (which shall remain nameless), I’ve had no issues getting a solid grasp on this when I need to.* Lens Cap Compatible - despite being rather thin, this filter will still let a lens cap get a good grip on it. I realize that for many people this won’t matter, but I’m the kind of weirdo that still generally caps things when not actively shooting. In general, I’ve found this to be a worthwhile filter - just be aware of the lens flare artifact issue.
