The futon frame arrived with a crack that I hoped wouldn't affect stability. Thankfully, that crack didn't. However, after a month of use the futon frame completely broke (see photo). This caused the bottom left of the futon frame to crash onto the floor. It is now entirely unusable.If you order anyway and are lucky to get a futon frame that doesn't outright fall apart, be warned that it takes 2-3 adults to get ours from the bed position back to the couch.Nobody wants to be the person with the faulty product leaving a bad review. Buying this futon appears to be a crapshoot and ours certainly ended up being crap. Better luck to you!

Some concerning damage to external packaging, but ZERO DAMAGE of actual product, everything was there (plus some extras they send in case you lose one), went together quickly, easily, and securely.This is the second full size futon sofa frame we've bought from Nirvana off Amazon, and we also bought a Nirvana 36 inch by 36 inch by 12" high coffee table to go with it.The first Nirvana full size futon sofa frame we bought also came with a set of drawers and flip-out end-table platforms. It's more than 6 years old now, still strong and beautiful as the day we first set it up.This new futon sofa frame (and "upside-down pyramid" coffee table) are every bit as durable, beautiful, easy to assemble, consistently good quality, beauty, shipping, can't say enough good things about a company like Nirvana.

I bought this futon frame for use with an 8-in mattress that I already had from an earlier futon where the metal frame had bent and broken. The wooden frame is very sturdy. It built pretty simply with easy to follow instructions. The futon is very comfortable in both of the couch positions. I find that the reclining more position is a little bit more comfortable. Feels very heavy duty and sturdy recommended. Be aware that the product will arrive in two boxes sometimes on different days, I initially thought that I only received half the order.

Easy to put together, just need to pay close attention. Screws not labeled but none look alike so no issues there. Accidentally put the slats in upside down and needed help to flip it upright. Other than that, didnt really need two people to put it together. Came in two boxes, no futon mattress, remember to buy that if youre attracted to this piece because its cheaper. Like other reviewers said, the screws that keep the slats in place are held in place by flimsy pins. The stress is not on the pins so its no issue, but if you have to take this apart and put it together often, they could break.

This was the nicest couch-type wood futon frame with good reviews for the price that I could find. Came in two boxes. We also ordered an 8" innerspring futon mattress. Assembly was involved but straightforward. Instructions were clear. All the parts and tools were provided. The quality of construction couldn't have been better. The finish was perfect. The frame functions fine without the mattress - three settings; chair, recline, bed. The only complication is that the mattress, while being surprisingly comfortable to sit and sleep on, is somewhat heavy. I believe the weight of the mattress affects the function of the futon action when trying to fold it from bed to chair. Doing this requires two of us - one in front, one in back. This is reasonable because most people would likely get a thinner/lighter mattress that should be much easier to fold. I also imagine a metal frame might not have had this issue. Overall, I couldn't be happier. Nice piece of furniture.

It’s a handsome piece and very sturdy, we’re very pleased to have purchased it for our baby boy’s room / guest room. My husband put it together over two some hours; it was a little complex but he got it done. He can move it from couch to bed by himself, but he is a strong guy, so others may need a hand.We were gifted a 12” thick futon mattress for this from Kohl’s (no springs) - we were worried it wouldn’t work out with this frame, but are pleased to say it meets our needs! Yes, it’s a little harder to bend and when I sit on it in couch form, my feet don’t touch the floor. But it’s extremely comfortable to sleep on (the main point of us getting it was for guest quarters) and comfortable to sit on. We don’t intend to switch it daily from bed to couch, and it’s not a headache to do so. Also, I got a sticky mat to hold the futon on the frame, but haven’t actually needed it because I guess the mattress is so snug. Maybe with thinner mattresses it would slide, but we don’t have that problem. We will return the mat.

This futon frame replaced one that I bought locally in LA over 30 years ago - good construction will last a long time, even if opened and closed a lot. It can be carried and assembled perfectly well by one person - I did it without a problem - but two would probably be easier. Follow the instructions carefully! Carrying the 2 boxes it came in was not hard, fit in my tiny elevator and I managed it without the Fedex guy's help. Very well packed, well shipped, arrived on the first day of the estimated time (a few days after the order) in factory condition. Holds my futon mattress perfectly, opens and closes easily. Two things kept me from a 5-star: my old futon didn't have to be pulled away from the wall to open. I won't open it much, though, it's a guest bed and mostly will be a sofa in a guest bedroom / office. Also, yet to be tested, it lacks "feet" to support the cantilevered front and back when open. Wouldn't want to jump up and down on it! But seems solid. And it looks great! That makes up for a lot! Got compliments on it right away.
