I am a maintenance technician with 30 yrs. experience. This sofa base can be assembled somewhat “easily” with only a few extra details. First, go to your local hardware and get some wood glue and use it on as many screw joints and especially every wood dowel you put together. This is so important, believe me. Second, while you’re at the hardware bring the little Allen wrench with you and get them to set you up with a better tool to tighten the fasteners . If you have a cordless drill, great, if not maybe a multi screwdriver and a bit. You’ll want anything other than that little wrench, trust me!! JUST DON’T OVER Tighten the screws. If you strip one out just go back to hardware and get some screws a size or two bigger. Most importantly don’t get overwhelmed. If it gets too much, just step back for a while.

The Monterey Queen wasn't difficult for me to assemble alone and it works great! I'm using the 'my pillow' foam mattress and it fits perfect but that mattress is pretty heavy so I leave the futon open until I need the couch position for company use because this is my bed in my studio apartment. Luckily, I don't have any friends so switching the futon is very infrequent - but it works great! I do think the couch is 1.25" too high though. Some cool day I'll take it apart and saw the legs shorter.

Decent quality and looks way more mature and stylish than traditional metal frames. It wasn't hard to assemble, but definitely requires more than one person to do so. Its held up nicely so far (almost a year) but it does need 2 people to put it back into couch mode. Overall, happy with my purchase and would reccomend if this is the kind of item you're looking for.

The futon was relatively easy to assemble. If you get confused, you can go to the manufactures website and there is videos that you could easily follow along. I put this together by myself. It took much longer than I need it to cuz I did it on my own but you can do it on your own if you have no choice (recommend a building partner for faster results.) once I figured out how to fold and unfold, it wasn’t too bad. The futon does slip but also I have a really huge 12 inch thick futon. You have to put muscle in my futon to fold it LOL but despite that, it will stay on. I think this would work best if I had a fold futon. I already have been napping, sitting, and unfolding for guest. So far so good. No complaints about it. If you want something that’s a good price, does the job, and have a folding futon (LOL) I say GET THIS!

This was very hard to assemble, once I finally got it done did not slide right and matress did not fit. I injured my back then I could not take apart and had no way to return due to the fact i have no car and just moved. It is not worth the money and now im out over 200 I'm extremely disappointed and would not recommend this to anyone.

Definitely a 2 person assembly. Very sturdy for 2 adults and a child. We use it to sleep in our camp trailer.
