I am impressed by the quality of this futon. The step by step assembly instructions were perfect. I didn’t have to redo anything and no parts leftover! It took me about an hour. I am not handy but do follow instructions. I will buy another one next month for another room.

Very pleased with this item! Solid construction. The wood is solid, not veneer. Each element is made of smaller pieces fused together, but this is beautifully done and is structurally and aesthetically irreproachable. This is a more ecologically sound way to use wood in any case. Having had futon sofas back in grad school that were and ungainly, I must say that this is the Mercedes of futon frames. Satiny finish, color that is true to the photo, and elegant small details. Assembly takes 2.5-3 hours and is best done with somebody on hand to help out. I managed to do it completely by myself with a bit of ingenuity and one bruised toe (put some books under the rail when you're trying to line it up with the sidearms so it doesn't drop down onto your foot). The only difficult bit was the final placement of the seat and back in the frame, but I managed it and I'm a 5'7" woman, so it's doable. Other reviewers are correct that the allen wrench is a bit tight. Pay attention to the instruction that tells you NOT TO TIGHTEN BOLTS FULLY til the contributing elements are in place! I recommend getting a rubberized pad to put between the your futon mattress and this frame so the futon doesn't start sliding. One bonus aspect of this frame is that the arms are flat, so if you want a place to set a drink or something, it works well.

The frame came it 2 boxes. I received the arms but had trouble tracking the other box since it was under the same tracking number. I contacted DCG through Amazon and had a response the next morning. They tracked the 2nd box and kept me posted on its arrival. It was only 3 days later, no big deal.I did receive the 2nd box containing the futon frame on the day that they said it was due to be delivered. It arrived in perfect condition. All the proper parts were in the box.I was able assemble the futon with the help of a friend. The directions were fairly easy to follow and the futon was very easy to assemble. It took an hour and 20 minutes.I am very very happy with my futon frame and the 8 inch mattes that I ordered from DCG as well.It looks beautiful and feels sturdy as well as being very comfortable.I thank DCG for their prompt attention and assistance in tracking for me.It is a pleasure to give rave reviews about the product and customer support !

The Good: This futon is constructed with high quality solid wood, is attractive and comfortable for sitting and sleeping (provided you invest in a quality futon mattress). It was, however, a bit confusing for us to assemble, given our lack of experience with this sort of thing. We could've used a "blowout" diagram to put the pieces in context. Additionally, it takes two people to re-fold the futon from sleeping (back to sitting) position. That could be caused by our use of a heavy, thick futon mattress. All in all, I'm happy with the futon and would buy another.

The futon frame is beautifully colored. It came in two boxes and had a little bit more assembly work than I anticipated. Overall, I was able to put it together in 2.5 hours from start to finish by myself. It could have probably taken less time, but I wanted to make sure it was done right rather than having to go back and redo steps. The instructions were clear and had good diagrams. The hex wrench provided was a little bit big for some of the bolts/screws, but I had spare ones laying around from other self-assemble furnitures in the past and wasn't a problem. When the product was shipped, Fedex divided the two boxes into two shipments. At first, I thought an entire box was missing and sent an email to the company through amazon. Within 24 hours, I had a response. They really went above and beyond to answer my questions and concerns. If nothing else, they get a 5 star rating for customer service.Productwise, I was a little bit dissapointed to see that the wood is made from a lamination process and cut to size. I had hoped for solid wood beams. Non-the-less, I think that was kind of a high expectation for the price of the product. Additionally, the wood frame is still a solidly designed frame. The support beams for sitting and sleeping are thick enough and close enough spaced that Don't have to worry about anyone breaking it. The weakest point on the futon is probably at the connecting points where the two side panels are linked together by a long bar and supports some of the weights. However, the the interlocking points, it's held together by a metal L bracket and a (i think) 60mm bolt/screw. With an 8" spring-foam mattress, the futon is super comfortable to sit and sleep on. It does take a little bit of work to prop it up from a bed to a couch, but can be done easily with 2 people.Overall, it's a futon that looks like a solid piece of wood furniture. For a person living in an apartment, it's an eye catcher center piece (like literally, it's placed in the center of my living room). I would also recommend it with a black mattress cover to have the black straps that comes with the frame assembly process blend in and hidden from the back side. That being said, you could also just pull those out afterwards if you find them less than appealing. Since they're stapled to the inside portion under the matress, the staple marks would be hidden anyways.
