Bough over a month and so far so good. It's convenient and easy for going around. I don't have to change lenses. The images are sharp.

After two decades of old digital cameras, I finally upgraded to a Nikon Z50 II with the kit lenses (which were a good deal that would have been twice as expensive if bought separately). But for hiking and taking everything from scenes to birds, wildlife, and near macro shots of flowers, I subsequently decided that I didn't want to either have to carry both kit lenses or frequently switch which lens was on the body. So, I took a plunge and purchased this lens (once it dropped below $1000). It is relatively LIGHT WEIGHT, has incredible range from "normal" (because of my body's 1.5X crop factor) to sizeable telephoto, will focus surprisingly close (providing ca. 1:3 I think), and its onboard VR is so good that I can hand hold it at full telephoto extension at rather low shutter speeds. Although I have heard that it may not be as sharp or "flat" (i.e., no pincushioning or barrel distortion) as a set of prime lenses, I haven't found that obvious or objectionable. Of course, at maximum telephoto, it doesn't have much depth of field unless stopped down further than its max of f/8, and then one must crank up the ISO. When rapidly changing focal length, the autofocus can sometimes "get confused" (and I haven't tried it yet on flying birds), but once locked on to a focusing point it does a good job of staying there through moderate changes in focal length. I am happy that I bought this lens, and it is the lens that I will usually keep mounted on the body.

What an upgrade from the Z 50-250 lens! Hreat value. I am so glad I got this lens because I won't have to switch lenses hardly at all. It works great in the house with my pups. It takes great wildlife photos of birds and deer. I haven't seen the beaver by the creek lately, but I am sure I will get great shots of it too.

Nikon 28-400mm is really a miracle!With about 14.3x huge zoom range ( I can't find any full frame lens more powerful than this one), you can still get very sharp images from 28mm wide end to 400mm far, and I didn't notice any obvious defect. Besides, the price is also very affordable.It's so amazing that I purchased a Nikon Z 7II just for using this 14.3x miracle zoom lens!

I got this lens for traveling because of its weight, telephoto zoom range, and its price. I was using a Nikon Z9 and traveling in Mexico and got some great daytime pictures of Birds in Flight diving in the shallows for fish. I also used it indoors in Japan for a Sumu Wrestling competition. I got some exceptional pictures using ambient light from about 30 yards away. It also worked extremely well for daylight landscape pictures. I highly recommend . It's extremely versatile and well built,

This is the only lens you need. It does wide-angle and huge telephoto and covers every possible situation. The best part on top of that is The stabilization it provides. It’s incredible. I used to shake, no more No more!! so you don’t need to carry tripod. I shoot professional videos all handheld. Fantastic. I hate when I have to use other lenses.

I am VERY Happy with the image quality throughout the whole zoom range (It exceeded my expectations) The "BUT" is it suffers from Lens Creep (It Zooms out on its own while walking - I feel it still should get a 5-Star review, but keep this in mind) The images were taken with a Nikon Z8 from 28mm to 400mm.

I was hesitant to buy this lens, since most of the lenses which such a wide range, do not deliver quality sharp enough images.The 28-400mm range is absolutely amazing to work with. The quality of the images are very good and I cannot think of a better “one-lens” for travel than this.Well done Nikon!

i have a chipmunk that lives in my yard and i can never get close enough to take the perfect picture. well today i sat outside at the chipmunk hole waiting for him to pop out and sure enough he was curious and poked his little nose out and i even got some of his face. the quality is stellar. greatest investment i have ever made. i am so happy i won't need to buy all the different types of lenses with all the range i get with this bad boy.
