A doorbell system consists of 4 parts – A doorbell chime, a push button, a transformer, and the wiring, which are connected all together (see the wiring diagrams below).
If there is an issue with the chime, the chime may or may not be the issue. See below under “Troubleshooting” for common issues and troubleshooting tips.

I was able to remove my old one and replace it with this model under 10 minutes. It matched all the existing holes and the interior was exactly like the one I owned previously. This replaced an old mechanical doorbell and had I not also installed two Google Nest doorbells, it probably would have been sufficient. The transformer I had was 16V /10AV which just wasn’t enough to ring the ding dong chimes with the two Google Doorbells. The Google doorbell cameras worked fine, but no chime to the unit on the wall. I replaced the transformer with a 16V / 30VA. Now while the chimes work, there is a buzz/hum as it strikes the plates. I have no idea if it is just a cheap doorbell wall unit. Rather than go through the hassles, I’ll just leave it as is, for the seconds I actually hear the ding dong. Otherwise, my Google doorbells still work nicely.

Is really low level quality, the cover looks like it’s 3D printed or something. Also makes a double rattle of sorts after the initial proper ding-dong, as if the plunger is doing another inertia induced swing against its coil springs but never reached the chime bars. Yes it’s mounted right side up.

I got this chime to replace the previous 10V one that I had because I was installing a Ring Wired Doorbell Pro that needed more power than my previous doorbell transformer could give it. After installing the new transformer, this chime was easy to install and works great with the new 16V transformer and the Ring Wired Doorbell Pro. It supports two different sounds for different doors if you have wiring from different doors, but I'm only using the front door connection.Replacing my previous 10V chime with this 16V one was easy and only took a few minutes. No problems with installation.

I bought 2 of these doorbells because they were compatible with the ring system. It's fairly clean looking, easy to install. I haven't used the actual chimes on the device because I think ring overrides it and uses their chime function.

This chime is officially listed as a compatible device with Gen 2 Rings, but since it may not work for everyone, I'll mention here that it works great with mine. I just built a new house and had a completely new setup; new ring, wiring, transformer, and chime. Although I had some troubles getting the Ring wired (not related to the chime), the chime works perfectly fine.Quick Note:If you're already using a mechanical chime, then swapping it for this one should not make a difference. If you have a digital chime (like Ring Pro) and you're replacing it with this Newhouse chime, then you'll want to make sure you change the "Chime Type" in the Ring settings from Digital to Mechanical.

Bought to pair with the UnifI Door Bell G4.It does the job, the chime is loud enough. Installation is easy, quality is good and sturdy.

I don’t usually write reviews, but because it is harder and harder to find accurate ones anymore, I decided to. Don’t listen to some of the negative reviews, this is all the info you need, got it??? It took 3 mins to install, if it takes you longer, please SLAP YOURSELF, seriously! The one review said the hole for the wires was too small, wrong hole jack! I have a feeling they were trying to put the wires through the top, vertical screw hole. This is identical to my old NuTone model LB12 except it is a more modern matte white color. Size, screw hole pattern and wire configuration is identical, covers are even interchangeable if you like. If you have repeat issues with a chime failing you probably have a shorted switch. I think some people reviewing this had that issue. Bottom line, it’s a cheap, effective chime. Probably could be a little louder, but good enough for us non paste eaters of the world!
