Chopping ice used to be such a task, now it takes hardly no time at all. This little tool is easy to hold and makes the job so easy and quick. A good value for the money.

The package came looking like it had been run over by a truck. The handle was cracked so I wrapped it in electrical tape now it works perfectly.

This icepick is strong.I tested with ice, it was like nothing. I used it against cinder blocks. Again it was nothing. I tested on bricks and again the bricks were no match. I drove it on 1/2" plywood and the pick is still stuck. I'll need to saw it out as it went in deep and it's stuck unto a wall stud. I took pics and video to prove it.

I got this ice pick to make holes in plastic containers to use for dyeing (so the dye can work its way though the fabric, then drip into a second container so the colours don't get muddy). It's worked perfectly for my needs and stayed nicely sharp so I can anticipate using it for more hole punching and other uses in future.

Sencillo pero sumamente útil para su fin. Bien construido. Excelente para separar el hielo que se compra en bolsa

One might imagine that it probably doesn't take a lengthy shopping trip to locate the perfect ice pick, but I did just that and I'm happy to say that at long last, I found one. After poring over a number of really excellent reviews here at Amazon for various other ice picks, some ice pick tines were reported to have bent, or the blade and the handle separated from one another in pretty short order; some were said last for a week or two, or a month or two. That is why I have now taken some time to use my new ice pick repeatedly before writing this review. The reason I bought it in the first place was that I have a freezer that self-defrosts every single night, and in so doing, melts my ice cubes so that by morning, the resulting ice water has re-frozen on the bottom of the ice receptacle, forming a small frozen pond. The 48353 ice pick makes short work of this, and I have lots more usable ice without a lot of headache and it's clearly built to last. I'm glad I bought this particular ice pick and I hope that, when in need, you will "pick" one up for yourself!

Based on the reviews, it almost seems as though some of them were written about a different ice pick, or some users simply clicked on any similar pick to leave a review. For this particular pick, I am especially pleased. The handle is large enough to feel as though you are holding a tool that will do the job, the carbon steel is durable, and the way the tip is fashioned seems to be the key factor in easily splitting ice. It is tapered at the tip, though the very end is extended, much like an ink pen. This feature that makes the pick the best choice.

I always thought an ice pick was a rather absurd tool to have in your bar, but I regularly freeze teas, juices and fruit to use as the base for drinks and unlike plain ice, those can't be broken up in a canvas bag, and muddling leaves you with big chips. This is actually a life-saver. I'd put it up there with the boston shaker, the muddler, and the jigger as the four most important bar tools. (And no, it is not even remotely the same as using a knife. Trust me. I've tried using a knife to break up many chunks of fruit and have only bent blades and cut hands to show for it - knives slip off the chunks too easily, but this little tool makes quick work of it.)

I love buying bags of sonic ice...I just might be addicted. I love the texture. But no matter what, especially with my heat in south Texas, a little bit gets melted in the transporting. Which means after I use a small amount, it needs to be broken up as I continue to get more. I've used many hard objects to break the ice up, including just slamming the bag the ground. It's such a chore and frequently doesn't break up like I like it. Then one day I remembered that growing up we had an ice pick. Crazy I hadn't thought about it before. So now I happily have my New Star carbon ice pick. It doesn't leave trace pieces of metal in your ice, which I've read some do. It simple break my ice and of course is great when you need to punch an extra hole your leather belt!
