About this item

  • Best available SDR for portable Android & IOS applications, remote installations, embedded applications, and anytime a tiny SDR is ideal--less than 1" square!
  • Contains RTL2832U interface IC and the new, improved R820T2 tuner! This tuner has improved sensitivity and SNR compared to devices using the R820T. Unmatched price-performance.
  • 1-year warranty direct from NooElec! With locations in both the US & Canada, and full technical support services, your investment is a safe and wise one.
  • Free high-quality telescopic antenna, much improved over the older thin-whip style antenna. Turn on, tune in and...listen!
  • Frequency capability is approximately 25MHz-1750MHz, with no gaps within that range. Expansion to HF, all the way down to 100kHz, is available with the Ham It Up upconverter (sold separately).

Brand new re-design! The NESDR Nano 2 are custom-made by NooElec for SDR applications, though they will still function as quality DVB-T receivers where signals permit. The enclosure was also re-designed to assist in maintaining lower temperatures than the previous generation.

The tiny size and 24/7 capability makes the Nano 2 perfect for Android, iOS & embedded applications! How small? Just 24mm x 21mm x 8mm (15/16" x 13/16" x 5/16")!

Working on a remote installation? Building an ADS-B station? This is probably what you want!

As with other units in the NESDR series, a full 1-year warranty is included at no extra charge. We guarantee antenna protection will be present so that your new investment will not be quickly destroyed by spurious ESD. And, as usual, we perform extensive QA on every batch sold.

The accurate crystals, and high-quality capacitors and inductors we use for production assist in lowering the noise floor, increase stability and improve longevity.

The NESDR Nano 2 is based on the R820T2 tuner IC, which means an approximate tuning range of 25MHz-1750MHz and improved selectivity and sensitivity vs. other SDRs. There is also an RTL2832 (RTL2832U) IC on board of course, to provide basic demodulation and USB interface functionality.

Full compatibility with a wide variety of popular SDR software packages, such as Matlab, HDSDR, SDR Touch, Planeplotter, SDR#--too many to list, really. We're talking Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, Raspberry Pi...you'd be hard pressed to find somewhere you can't use these!

The connector type on the antenna and USB board is MCX--male MCX on the antenna, female MCX on the SDR. There are plenty of adapter and adapter cables available in our store if you want to connect your favorite antenna!

Want HF too? Take a look at the Ham It Up, available in our store, to extend the range of your SDR down to 100kHz!

Do NOT waste your money on this SDR. As others have said it heats up fast and just burns out.My unit had maybe 15 minutes of total use (split into about 5 minute sessions) before it bricked itself. It's a shame, it's a great form factor for a little mobile SDR. All my other NESDR SDR models are holding up great, even ones in continuous use.Avoid this one.

I used this to monitor my smart meters. It worked well for about 18 months, until it started going for days at a time without detecting any activity from the meters, only to start receiving again, before it finally quit. Looking closer, the internal LED no longer lit, though the device still showed up on the usb bus. Cracking open the case, I found scorch marks near and on what appear to be two LDO voltage regulators on the underside of the board. As others have said, the Nano 2 does run warm, but I had this connected to a RasPi in a location that had ample ventilation, and the board still cooked itself to death after 18 months. Not worth the $33 this device now costs to replace it, if it's going to need to be replaced every year or two.

Works indoors [upstairs, on a window sill] giving me ~50 miles range using RasPi4. This was AFTER an SSH software update [to version 1.0.44-0] which was NOT obvious.

I liked the size, however after a few uses one of the SMD components dislodged and the device stopped working.

I ended up using one for monitoring my water meter in Hassio (using rtlamr), I was impressed with how well it worked. On the first try it picked up all the water meters nearby. If these things could transmit as well I'd buy a few more.

Overall I give this a 4 star review as I am slightly concerned over how hot the device runs while using it and how long the device may last before it could burn out. I don't know it's operating temperatures should be and so it maybe well within tolerances. It probably could use slightly better heat dissipation designed into it. However, with that one caution noted, it performs exactly as described and is a great little unit to scan for radio frequencies across a wide range of the RF spectrum. Software and driver install could be a little easier but performs well.

Had this sdr for a couple of days now and it's pretty good. I can listen to lots of stuff with this. If you want to receive signals coming from a distance you will need a better antenna. For starters the antenna that comes with the sdr is good enough. It does get quite hot after about 5 minutes of use but that doesn't affect its performance.

Awesome little SDR that works on my android phone and PC's. After getting familiar with it, I will have to tell you that it is important to plug it into the motherboard and not a USB hub, otherwise you will overheat the device. I recommend this product and the team behind it. Their tech support was great!OLD REVIEWThis is a really cool and compact SDR, but I suspect a thermal design issue. After about 20-25 minutes of running it on HDSDR, it disappears from the usb devices list. When it finally gives up, I measure 130.9*F on my fluke 179 at the copper RF connector of the nano 2. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this if it's not the 24/7 device they describe. Maybe I just received a bad unit. It's a shame because the size and appearance is awesome.
