I want to check for trueness of my vehicle rotors. I had an issue with my front end shaking. Found out after checking everything it was actual the tires. I'll use this for other applications like my metal lathe.

First off the kit is awesome! I love that you can just clamp it anywhere you need it and its infinitely adjustable versus most that are just a magnet with adjustable arm.Its easy to use, the dial indicator itself moves smoothly and is very accurate, it feels well made and all the threaded pieces fit snugly no issues there!The only real issue i have is you do need to crank the knurled piece (near the dial) down pretty firmly before turning the lock on the vise grip side, otherwise the arm will wiggle and move a bit, aka (i wish the lock on the vise grip side had more clamping power), this can be a little tricky with oily hands!For the money its a decent tool that seems durable enough and accurate enough for anything you might need it for, probably not for measuring bearing clearance but it’s plenty for brake rotors!I would definitely recommend!

Good for casual DIYer. Feels a but expensive for what it is but works as advertised . I was able to successfully troubleshoot some brake pulsations from my recent brake job. As my first time using this type of instrument, the instructions are a bit lackluster. For example, I could not quite figure out how to lock up the flexible arm and had to watch some YouTube videos to learn how to use this tool properly. Otherwise no other complaints

The set comes with a dial indicator, flexible gooseneck and a vice-grip. The vice-grip is as you'd expect except with the gooseneck attachment block stuck to its back with 2 rolled pins. It's been solid so far.Nothing plastic about the gooseneck, it's all steel, including the steel cable inside it that's put under tension to make the gooseneck rigid. Takes a minute to figure out how to use it. It can be a bit fidgety to finally get the right position with the dial indicator already installed on the end but once you find the right spot and tension the gooseneck it all stays in place. To tension you need to turn a knurled fitting near the dial and finally twist a lever near the vice-grip.The gooseneck connection block has a threaded hole on 3 sides so you can attach the gooseneck from 3 angles, obviously needed in tight quarters around suspensions/calipers and hoses. Can use 2 wrenches to make sure it's tight and won't unscrew while working.Dial indicator is OK, but it only comes with a ball tip. Would've been nice to include the "wheel" type tip but still functional. The indicator tip housing is knurled and although I didn't try to remove it, it may be replaceable.Blow-molded tool case is OK. Just a bit of a hassle trying to fit the gooseneck back into it's original location so you can close it. Otherwise typical plastic "piano-hinge" style case with a plastic handle.Overall a solid bit of kit. Only plastics are the case, indicator back cover and lens.

Was measuring rotor run out on my car and this did the trick perfectly. build quality feels solid and tensioning mechanism works well. Carrying case is also appreciated.

I'm getting ready to replace some of my wheel and suspension components, and wanted an accurate gauge to help determine exactly which components I need to replace, so I thought I would give this a try. Excellent choice. This indicator is very well made out of good quality materials. Fit and finish are excellent. The design of the flexible arm is very clever, and easily locks into the desired place. It holds quite firmly, which is a must for accurate readings. It comes in a nice plastic case to keep everything together and protected. While it is advertised for measuring disk brake runout, it can also be used for measuring the play in many suspension components as well. Highly recommend. 5 stars.
