This is an imperfect solution to the problem of folding pamphlets and flyers, but on the whole it produces a better quality final product than doing the job completely freehand.First you have to figure out where to set the two paper guides for the format of fold you are trying to make. I do mostly trifold brochures so they can stay in place between jobs for the most part. If you are doing a wider variety of folds, I can see where constantly having to reset these paper guides would get old quickly. The thing that I have found annoying is that you need to be very careful about positioning the paper guides exactly correctly. It is very easy to screw them down incorrectly and have them move on you when you're at least expecting it. To the manufacturer I would recommend placing marks on the ruler at the correct place for standard folds such as trifold or half fold.Once the paper guides are set, producing the fold is just a matter of pulling down on a lever. It works extremely well as long as you are only holding one sheet or at max two sheets at a time. Beyond that the folds really don't transfer well to all of the sheets. And that is the case even when using plain 20 lb bond paper. When using cardstock, it is strictly one sheet at a time! The instructions claim you can do three pages at a time, but I wouldn't recommend it.Once you have the fold complete, this machine's job is done. You still have to fold the complete document manually. So it's not nearly as much of a time saver as you might expect. For a standard trifold brochure I have to insert the document, produce the left hand fold, rotate the document 180°, produce the right hand fold, then remove the document from the machine and fold it. Not much of a time saving over simply grabbing the document and applying clothes by hand. The advantage is that once you get the paper guides set properly, you're going to wind up with a much neater and more attractive looking publication then if you try to do it freehand. That's the benefit of this machine, rather than saving time.If you're looking for something that will do the folds for you and save time in the process, this is not the machine for you. You want an electric folding machine, not just a creasing machine. Expect to pay quite a bit more for that! But if all you want is to make your final product look for a professional, this is a nice tool for the purpose.
