I have been setting up my guitars for years now, and I have a cheaper set of feeler gauges that I always use, and they’re fine, but I find this gauge set to be of high quality. The pick capo it comes with is surprisingly useful, does what it’s supposed to. Of note, the MN method states to hold down the 12th fret (with pick capo at the first fret) while sliding the gauge under the 6th fret. When watching the MN how-to video, I noticed the tech was holding down the 12th fret relative to capo, so technically the 13th fret, and the gauge went under the 6th fret relative to capo, so technically the 7th fret. This is important to note as it will give you a more accurate reading. Anyways, nice gauge set and I’m pleased with my purchase.

Most my friends are scared chickens who feel they can't adjust the action of their guitars and feel they need to take it to a Luthier or guitar tech to make the adjustments. Pretty basic; truss rod, nut slots and bridge are where those adjustments take place. This product gave me the info I needed to make the necessary adjustment to the truss rod. Easy stuff.

This made it easy to set up my basses and guitars. It's pretty foolproof, and makes the truss rod less scary.

Yes it is expensive for three feeler gauges. You can get a lot more for a lot less if you buy an automotive set. What is nice about these is they have ONLY what you need for the job, there isn't any machine oil on them, so you don't end up with machine oil on your guitar and the cover panels include instructions so you don't have to guess at which way to turn your truss rod. A good thing if you only use it twice a year. All three of the gauges measured exactly what they should as you can see in the three pictures above.

This product has to be thought of in conjunction with the booklet and videos that accompany their use. Yes, this is a lot of money for something that is in effect a set of 'curated' and carefully marked feeler gauges, but because of the other materials and the very clear markings and instructions, I've made more progress in doing my own setups since buying the music nomad gear and following along with their videos, than I have in the past 30 years of various books and picking up tips here and there. Recommended – just be sure to follow along with their tutorials. I'm sure once I've absorbed it all I'll branch out but for the moment, these get a solid thumbs up. I'll post an identical review for their other gauges which are also excellent.

I’ve acquired a few Music Nomad products over the years. They are an American owned company, and the owner Rand, is still very involved with their success. This neck relief gauge is a great addition to my collection. Many people online and different Facebook guitar groups have suggested many different ways to get the correct neck relief on your guitar. I have even posted a procedure using a business card at the 7th fret I learned from my local luthier. This is So Much Better! The Pick Capo is a brilliant idea and having just three feeler gauges to select from makes it easy to use. You just follow the instructions on the gauge set and Viola, all done. A standard set of feller gauges has a bunch to find the right one and some sets have an oil on them to keep them from rusting I guess. Any product from Music Nomad will meet your needs and They stand behind them too. The picture doesn’t even show all of what I have to help setup and maintain my guitars.

This feeler gauge kind of contradicts OEM factory relief recommendations for guitars. I used it once, seemed to be off measurement, and went back to the factory spec recommendations using a .010 feeler gauge at the 8th fret. I don't think I'll use this gauge again.
