Had mine 2 1/ 2 to 3 years or so and it crapped out on me cpl days ago.I will say i had no moisture issues with it but for well over 500 bucks 2 to 3 years and 20k in milage isnt really that long to go down and stop and crap out on me.glad i was fairly close to home.wont be getting another will go back qith ac del/Delphi.that one lasted almost 9 years and well less then half the price of the msd. Will be easy to modify with a vacumn to help with moisture also.Maybr i gota fluke one but the rotor came apart inside cap.So if u get one maybe youres will ñast longer then mine did.good luck!

I received this product, from the manufacturer, damaged. I immediately sent an email to Amazon who had a new shipped to me before I even mailed the old one back to the company. The new one worked great.

The construction of this opti-spark distributor vs AC Delco (OEM) is like day and night. AC Delco uses a plastic housing and some really stupid bolts (inverted hex) which i had to buy a tool just to remove (the supplied tool with this MSD distributor couldnt break them free). i was very impressed with the housing, rubber gasket, and overall quality of this solid aluminum and epoxy piece. i still think that the price is ridiculously high, but being that it took over 12 hours to remove the old one and put the new one on, i did not want to opt for a cheap part.Be prepared for the following work to be performed in order to even gain access to the distributor: remove intake elbow and resonator, remove cooling fans, drain coolant, remove serpentine belt, remove crankshaft pulley, remove water pump, and FINALLY remove distributor.while you're doing this work you may want to also do the following while it's easily accessible: clean throttle body, clean mass air flow sensor, replace serpentine belt.

This distributor came preassembled. It was a perfect fit and upgrade for my 1996 LT1 motor in my Chevy Caprice.

I thought I did my research well, as you know replacing one of these on the LT1 or LT4 Chevysis no pleasant task, especially when it also has a supercharger....Can you imagine tearing the whole front of the motor off all the way down to the timingcover to get at this thing, you know you want the best optispark on the market so youwon't have to go through this again.Well, this MSD 83811 looks like a jewel out of the box, but apparently that's all it's goodfor. After putting the entire car (blower and all) back together, right on start up we got"check engine light", and scanner showed "code 36, no high resolution signal".This means the brand new opti was junk out of the box, and we checked this to verify itwith an AC voltmeter on the high res, purple white wire, should be around 2.5-3.5 voltsand this was only 1.0-2.0 at any speed. Terrible, had to tear it all apart again. Here's a tip for everyone working on LT1: Check your "new" or "reman" opti BEFOREyou install it. There are only four wires going into it. Fine out which one isnegative (ground), positive, and put 12VDC to the opti. Then, spin the opti witha cordless drill, and your AC voltage (not DC) from the white/purple wire, shouldbe scrolling up and down (varying) between 2.0-4.0 volts. If not, DON"T install it,get another, it's bad. From all my research, it looks like Petris makes the best opti on the market now,and perhaps a new Delco IF you can find one, as it seems even new dealer optisare also a gamble.Good luck.
