MSD 85551 Pro-Billet Distributor

The housing is machined from a billet of 6061-T6 aluminum on a state-of-the-art CNC machine producing exact tolerances. Modified blocks can also take advantage of the O-ring seals to help maintain proper pressure. For high rpm stability, a .500" steel shaft is supported by a sealed ball bearing and a long sintered bushing. This shaft also receives a QPQ coating for friction reduction and resistance to corrosion. A precision machined reluctor is attached to the shaft which triggers the magnetic pickup mounted in the housing. This high output magnetic pickup is the most accurate way to trigger your ignition. Plus, with no moving parts to wear or adjust, the pickup is maintenance-free. Just above the pickup is MSD's adjustable mechanical advance assembly. Different springs and stop bushings are supplied so you can tune an advance curve to match your application.
MSD's Billet Distributors have been redesigned with many new features, including a race rotor and alkyd cap and a new billet base with full CNC Pro Billet design. The advance assembly is QPQ coated for corrosion resistance.

Well made. Easy to lock out. If you own MSD 6 al programmable ignition this just plugs right in. No shaft movement when installed so timing does not jump around. Wish it came with the adjustable rotor so phasing was possible.

Love that you can change your entire advance curve with just a simple change of springs and bushings, perfect for the guy tuning his car for optimum performance. Simple hook up to any MSD ignintion box, perfect comibination from a trusted company.
