This is such a nice paper cutter. Not as big as the old ones, but much, much lighter. Cuts well and has a 'locking' mechanism. Keep out of reach of children as its blade is very sharp. would buy again

I bought the Fiskars brand that is smaller than this one, but the cut isn’t that sharp. I always had to clean it up, but with this one. It cuts perfectly the first time every-time.

Needed a cutter for my small business and wanted something a bit sturdier than the small hand cutter I have. This was a bundle deal with a hole punch (that I also needed) and read the reviews so gave it a shot. This has a safety guard which was a big bonus for me so I bought it. After using it just a handful of times, I’m getting rid of it.First off, it took over 10 minutes to snap the handle on. I even banged it on my mattress (thinking it would be safer that way until the blade shot up and almost took off some fingers after knocking me in the mouth) and then pushed it down on a table a few times until I finally heard the almighty click. Even then it wasn’t on all the way and still had to ouch a bit to get it securely in place. I get it’s supposed to be secure but not everyone has the strength of a Marvel superhero. So off to a flying start.Once I got it situated on the table, I wanted to test the cut. So I used their own instruction sheet. For reference it’s an 8x10 sheet of paper. Lined it up and the first “cut” didn’t cut. It just pushed the paper down. So I repositioned it. Using their own graphic lines as a guide, this time it cut, but at an angle. Tried again on another side, this time it had a bowed cut. Curved in the middle like you might do freehand with scissors. Tried again, another angle. So I thought, maybe the paper is just too thin. I’m using this for card stock anyway let’s try that.I printed out some test pieces of what my projects would be and so glad they were just test copies. Incredibly uneven cuts. Even though the card was lined up against the top, they’d still cut on a slant. I should note, that even with printed guidelines on my images to help me align, it still cut slanted. To me a big design flaw is with the security guard. While it’s definitely needed, I thought it would tilt up so I could align my paper and card stock correctly then bring it down to hold in place. It does not. While it does push down to hold something in place, it is permanently attached into position and there is not enough room for my fingers to get under it to align a 4x6 piece aligned for the cut. Since the surface of the machine is slippery, I’d get one side right then the other would slip out of place. So I had to keep putting one hand between the open blades to try and get it straight. Not exactly safe! I then tried using another piece of card stock at the bottom to nudge the one I wanted to cut into place. Would take up to five minute PER piece to get it “right”. Then slice and slant.I only cut about five cards and then noticed there was a substance on the inside of the blade. (See pic) I will admit to not having noticed if it was there before I tried cutting or after but all I used this for was a couple of single cards at a time and they certainly don’t leave behind a sticky powder like residue. Is this why the cuts were off? Don’t know. But I’m not sticking my hand along that brand new extremely sharp blade to clean it and find out.Basically this was an incredible fail for me. I’m a one woman small business and can’t afford to keep losing inventory with wrong cuts. For the five I cut, only one came out ok, and that was after I readjusted to take off the extra. This is insane.I get this is not an expensive tool, but I did not feel it was worth even what I paid for it and did not feel safe with it either. It is lightweight for what it is and felt I had to really hold it down while using so it wouldn’t tip while cutting. So I will be sending this back.On the plus side the hole punch that I bought with it worked great.
