I got one for my neighbor, too. When new, these really help you get your mail out of the box. It matters because it's dark by our mailbox, and it's the biggest size, so envelops can get lost in back. And the timed motion sensing works well. HOWEVER, they burn up their 3 AAA batteries in a season or less, and one quit working completely. On the plus, they are cheap, so I even bought a spare.

I have been using this item for over a month and it really helps me get all of the mail pieces out of the large mailbox that I have after dark. My mail is delivered late in the day and during winter months it's pitch black by my mailbox. I mounted it at the back of the box and when I open the door it immediately goes on, illuminating the entire inside of the box so I can grab all mail pieces without fumbling around in the dark and dropping any. Unlike some other reviews I have had no problem with the sticky tape mount detaching in the cold or failing batteries. It works great.

This light works great. It doesn’t come on if it’s daylight outside, but if it’s dark out, when I open the box it comes on and lights up the inside of the box. I’ve had it in the box for at least six months and haven’t had to replace the batteries yet.

Love this light. We bought a large mailbox and when getting the mail at night you open the mailbox and wow...you have light. Wish I would've bought it a long time ago. It was very easy to assemble.

I like that this product easily performs well -- on a dark night it readily responds to movement and brightly lights the way. I use it in the bedroom for numerous bathroom trips in the dead of night -- it immediately lights the way so I avoid any problems of walking in the darkened room.

I don't like finding spiders on my mail or having the mail delivery person chuck the mail way in the back, past the basket that is inside the box to hold it, but it sometimes happens. Beyond that, I am generally picking my mail up when it is dark. I know for a fact the neighbors have seen me do a heebee jeebee dance in the road when spiders are crawling up my arm from various packages or envelopes. It has been below freezing since I installed it (SUPER EASY - it has a magnet!) so spiders aren't an issue right now but it is nice to drive up and be able to tell straight away what and where the mail is. I normally keep a flashlight in the car for that purpose but this is MUCH, MUCH better. It's nice and bright and has taken away some of the hesitation about opening that box that I didn't even know I had. I will be happy to feed it batteries for as long as it agrees to keep working. And there is a little pinhole in the mailbox door so I can even tell when it shuts off. I'm in love!

I love this light. Now that it gets dark early, this light is a great way of seeing all that’s in the box.
