Every parent struggles with the price of supporting their child's interests. One day they want to be a brain surgeon and the very next they want to be the next rock guitar legend. This is a very good purchase for when guitar legend is their current interest. With the 2 humbuckers you get a clean look and somewhat clean sound. While some beginners may think that life is over without a whammy bar, the truth is that when you are starting to learn to play, you need to focus on the craft rather than gadgets.Besides a very solid beginner guitar that looks great, you also get a very well-constructed gig bag, strap, strings and pics. No, the strap is not leather. But then again, if your budding rock star sticks with it, they'll want a personal strap, not something from a kit. So PU leather is fine starting out.I was surprised at the rechargeable practice amp. It sounds a whole lot better than I had expected. Perfect for practice. The string action is on the high side. This actually works well when you are learning finger placement. No, you won't be throwing down power cords or demonstrating your Eddie Van Halen like talents but again, this is a beginner kit. Perfectly to support a kid's interest and grow their talent without being overly expensive. When they get their first paying gig you can always drop a grand or better on something gig worthy.Really nothing bad to say about this beginner kit. It is a solid quality guitar with solid quality extras. The gig bag is actually better than many. At the very least, when your kid moves on to dreams of being an all-star quarterback in the NFL, you can keep this guitar and learn to play it yourself. It is definitely worthy of being played.

Full disclosure, I know absolutely nothing about guitars. If you want a review with specifications, I noticed there is a very detailed one listed by someone else. That reviewer may be able to answer your questions. I got this guitar for my 13-year-old nephew who wants to learn to play. He is still in the “I am not sure how committed I will be” stage, so I decided this would be a good starter guitar. If he decides the instrument is not for him, we are not bankrupt. I am actually super impressed by not only the guitar itself, but the entire set, with one issue that I will get to later. The guitar itself appears to be solidly made. By that I mean, it does not feel cheap to me. As I mentioned earlier, I do not know anything about how guitars are supposed to be made or built. This one just feels solid. I was rather surprised by the gig bag. It has a decent amount of padding, which is something I was not expecting for an instrument at this pricepoint. I was a little concerned with the strap that was included because it did not feel very solid, but my nephew went out and bought a bright red strap the next day, so it became a non-issue. On to the one big issue that we ran into, the amp. It took several days, and the purchase of a different amp, to figure out how to get the included amp to work. Come to find out, the amp will only work if the cable was not plugged in all the way. It has to not be fully clicked into place for it to work. Now that we know, it works just fine, but we did go a week thinking we had a defective amp. All-in-all, I think this is an excellent first guitar for anyone thinking about learning how to play.

This arrived very well packaged inside a foam bag, inside of the above averagely padded gig bag. This is Musily's take on the Les Paul Special. It is a bolt on neck, two humbucker, one volume, one tone, three way switch guitar. I like the Yellow, they call it another name, but it's basically TV Yellow. The guitar weighs 7.5 lbs, which is very light for a Les Paul, and that's very good. The fit and finish are good, but not great. If you look at the last photo, you'll see extra paint bunched up at the neck pocket. Otherwise it was good. The set up was good-ish. Just a bit of neck relief. Action at 9/1,000's Low E and 7/1000's High E. Higher than I would like it normally. The neck radius is around 16 by measurement. The nut is bone, which is good. The nut is 43.4 mm in width, unusual size. And it's cut pretty well if you don't look too closely. The G, B, and High E are just a bit high. And intonation was close with the same strings being just a bit sharp at the twelfth fret. The tuners are not anything fancy, but they work fine. The fretboard is rosewood, which is always nice on a budget guitar. The neck carve is a comfortable moderately slim C. Very nice in the hand. The body of the guitar has a belly carve, rather than the typical Les Paul slab. The electronics work perfectly. The pickups are quite muddy, but for a beginner they are just fine. This will not be a gigging guitar, unless you replace the pickups. The Tune o matic bridge and stoptail have some weight to them and function well. The action is a bit high, but there is some room to adjust the bridge downward, so there won't be any need to shim the neck. I played this guitar for a couple hours over the last two days and the combination of the light weight and comfortable neck with good fretwork and negligible fret sprout made for a very pleasant experience. Also, the extras that come with this guitar are all above average for this type of package and very usable. I've mentioned the gig bag. But the mini-amp is also very useful and USB rechargeable. Overall, this is a very good beginner guitar and guitar package. And for around 190 dollars with the current coupon it is a good value for money.
