My guitar needed some work. I like low action and the guitar that I received needed to have the neck shimmed 0.25% and the nut filed down. The frets 15-17 needed to be levelled, as they were high. For a beginner, this guitar is just fine; the neck is finished well (a little chunky, it's not an Ibanez) finish is good, it's light weight, pickups sound good. If you like low action and play past the 15th fret you will need to do some work. At the price you pay, plus additional adjustments, it is still a great deal. I did the work myself and am very happy with it.

We got this for my son who's been playing guitar for only about a year now. He has an acoustic and an electric bass but has really wanted an electric guitar. This came with everything needed and the quality was incredible. It sounds amazing as well.

This guitar has some ground issues, I just bought this and it makes an annoying buzz sounds. Now I have to return it or go to a guitar shop. Which will cost me more than the guitar.

I got the American flag version and the guitar looks great, but it wouldn't stay tuned for anything with the original strings. After I replaced them with Ernie Balls it made a world of difference. I think these guitars are of a different quality than they were a few years ago, because I saw a YouTube video reviewing them and the guy said it was kinda heavy. Well, mine is anything but heavy weighing only 5 lbs 10 ozs. This doesn't affect the sound much, because it still sounds pretty darn good, but it is worth noting. The neck is straight with no fret buzz despite a pretty low action and feels really comfortable with no sharp fret ends. The single coil pickups have the traditional Strat sounds, but the humbucker is really hot and does high gain metal sounds quite well. With new strings and a little setup, I think this is a great guitar for young beginners due to the light weight. And it's also really good for older players who just want to add to their collection, because it's cheap and looks so darned cool! It also included a thin gig bag, black guitar strap, amp cable, extra set of crappy strings and matching American flag themed 20 watt practice amplifier, which sounds better than I expected and is quite loud when turned up. Overall this set is quite a bargain and quite playable after new strings and a setup.

This is a beautiful guitar (green), and plays and sounds great. I had to lower the action and set the intonation, but otherwise this thing is excellent. Amp is good for the price, it's small, which I actually wanted for my space. Sounds fine, nothing special, and not a ton of adjustment. I don't believe that the bridge is a Wilkinson as others have mentioned. It looks like all of the other cheap ST style bridges out there. Frets felt wonderful when it arrived, but have started to sprout a bit in my dry climate, which is expected on any guitar. Tuner is ok, but I struggled with it when setting the intonation, and used a free app instead. I would buy this guitar again for sure. Very happy with it!

I am so impressed overall with this product. First of all, it arrived the day they said it would arrive and I appreciate that. Next, the quality of the looks alone astounded me. It is a very pretty, yet handsome guitar. My wife loved it as soon as she saw it. Then I tuned it and put it through its paces, Never have I gotten a guitar from anywhere when there was nothing for me to do with the set-up. The strings were low and no buzz or blunting of the ring of the strings anywhere on the fingerboard. The intonation was not perfect, but I never found a guitar that was. The important thing is that the intonation and the rest of the set up was, as Tom Petty said, "Good Enough". I literally don't need to do anything to the guitar. Next, the sound was the real surprise. The bridge pickup is wild sounding. It has a "bright" sound of its own that is freaky and sexy. I like it. Very clear. The other 2 pickups were great and they really finish this whole guitar off. All of this for $160! Fantastic! My hat is off to Leo. Good product, Bud!

I have been playing guitar for 10+ years and wanted to add a Stratocaster with a tremolo to the arsenal. I previously sold my Mexican Strat with Texas Special pickups and some other mid-level guitars to buy a high-end Telecaster and a professional-level Guild acoustic. With little left in the guitar budget, I took a chance on the Leo Jaymz ST and am so glad I did. The guitar arrived double-boxed and inside a very cheap gig bag that might be used as a trash can liner--well, it's a little better than a Hefty bag with a handle and zipper, but not much. As a consequence, the reveal was the more dramatic: out of that flimsy black sack slipped a virtually flawless objet d'art with Old Glory emblazoned on the body. This guitar looks fantastic. There were just a few minor finishing details that went wrong: the black paint on the face of the headstock is a tad uneven at one edge where the natural maple meets it. The pickup cutouts are slightly rough in some areas, but these details are hardly noticeable and do not affect playability or sound. The ST came set up perfectly well to my liking--medium to low action, and there is not a fret buzz to be found anywhere. Intonation is perfect. The neck is smooth, the frets are filed nicely, and all the switches and electronics perform well. The pickups are not super high output, but they sound good. I got some nice jazzy tones on my tube amp by selecting the neck pickup and turning down the tone control. The humbuckers in the bridge were great for some overdriven AC/DC riffs. The combinations in-between aren't bad, either. It comes strung with very light strings "for beginners," the company advertises. Indeed this is one thing I will change, adding .10 gauge or higher, and this will undoubtedly improve what is pretty fair tone as it is. I like this guitar for a beginner because it is easy to fret notes and sounds at least as good as Mexican Strat. Experienced guitarists on a budget can't go wrong, either. Would I rather have a made in America Fender Strat--of course, I would! But the days of paying $800-$1000 for a MIM Strat are over for me, since I can get this quality from Leo Jaymz for around $170, including tax and shipping.

I received my first Leo Jaymz, Yesterday. It's craftmanship for a cheap guitar is unreal. All I had to do was plug it in, tune it up...... And Away we go. it actually sounds really good. Don't get me wrong, it is no $3000 Les Paul guitar. but for a cheap guitar. it Rocks!! it Riffs easy and fast. It's light so when you stand and play, you don't get worn out. I will probably be getting another one of these cheap good sounding fast playing and light guitars.
