I had ordered the RCS212 not knowing that it was for newer fans. My house was built in 2006 (with the Minka Aire Fan) so it required this remote designed for pre2014 fan models. I got it today and it synced up to my fan with no modifications at all.. I couldn't be happier since my fan is mounted to an 17' tall ceiling in the middle of the room. I have many ladders,, but none that will freestand in the middle of a room 13' off the floor..

THIS IS NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR MODEL NUMBER DL-8101T nor CONTROL NUMBER RC1000.Open the battery area of YOUR remote that needs replacing and compare to my photo which is of this remote. This has 4 switches to configure the different signals & I needed one with 10 switched. However it does ork with another fan in the house - so it's legit and works as intended, just not for the specific fan I need it for.

This is my second purchase to work on ceiling fans where previous homeowners did not leave fan remotes. As long as the receiver in the fan has DIP switches, this remote can be matched with adjustable DIP switches in remote. Once DIP switches were matched, the remote worked perfectly.

I bought my fan a few years ago and it came with its own wireless controller. Suddenly one day it stopped working. I changed the batteries and no joy. I even took the unit apart to see if there was just a loose connection somewhere, but I couldn't identify any obvious issues. I ordered a replacement controller from Amazon and after it came I noticed that it was not the same as the one I was replacing. From the outside, it is identical, but the first controller I ordered had 8 switch settings to sync with the fan and the little light on the controller is green, not red. Anyway, I returned that controller and got a different Minka-Aire controller (different model). When that one came, it had the right number of switches (four) and a red light. Once I set the switches and inserted the batteries, it worked! So, if you are considering on buying this controller, do make sure that you are buying the right one. Minka-Aire makes at least two controllers that look exactly the same on the outside and there isnt an easy way to figure out which controller model number you need to get.

The dinning room has large windows and a sky light. Not to mention the sconces on the wall. Candle light dinners are great till the first table cloth goes up in smoke and the roast is cooked twice. I didn't know what to do. I didn't want to buy a new fan/light, and get an electrician to install it. We don't use the dinning room all that often, however dim light is irritating. I was cleaning out a draw and found the original manual with the serial number for the remote. Without that number getting the right remote is a shot in the dark, witch I am quite good at, two years practice.Took it out of the box, pushed the button and there was light. No fuse, no bother. Bit disappointed no voice over saying "Let there be light." Oh, well.Off to buy a new table cloth. Cheaper then an electrician.

Buy with caution when purchasing these Minka Air remotes. My fan stated I needed an rc212 remote. Since my fan was made prior to July 2009 it actually needed an rc210. I retuned my rc212. Some of the rc210 remotes coming from Minka are mislabeled. The remote had a 210 sticker glued to it. A 210 only works if you have a transmitter with one set of four digit codes on the transmitter and wall control. This is the same setup as the rc210. The color of the lights seems to mean nothing. I was sold an rc210 clearly stated on the package but it had two sets of four codes. It did not work. Just too many numbers sent out by the remote. The instructions clearly show one set of four for the code setup for an rc210. Either someone switched the remotes or it was mislabeled by Minka. Since it was sold as new opened stock I don't know witch.
