As I didn't have a battery or charger to go with this electric chainsaw, I took a chance and ordered two batteries and a charger from AMAZON. Once the battery was charged and installed in this chainsaw, I was glad I took the chance. There are many very positive aspects of this product:1) Two different lengths of bar and chains.2) It is very easy to put chain oil into the saw thru the nicely designed cap. The ability to see the level of chain oil due to the clear plastic tank facilitates knowing when to refill the oil which dispenses onto the chain without effort.3) The saw's handle and power button is very comfortable and provides a very stable grip on the saw.4) The design to adjust the chain's gap on the bar is very well thought out and easy to adjust.I very pleased with both how this saw cuts, the time to cut on a battery charge and the overall feel of this saw makes it truly a 5 STAR product.

This review will be for what I refer to as a mini saw, I classify anything with a six or eight inch bar as a mini saw. Honestly I never thought I would be seen with such a tiny saw, yet used properly it is actually a very productive tool. Fortunately for this review I have a similar saw to compare it too.(Safety Note)Although some people may not consider this a Real Saw because of its small size, I can assure you it is real, and is capable of injuring you if you're careless. It might, in some ways, even be more dangerous as it does not get the respect that full size saws do.(Unpacking)I unpacked the saw and inspected it for cosmetic and manufacturer's damage, and found nothing wrong.(Battery)This saw does not come with a battery, which it clearly states in its online description. I had to buy a charger and a few batteries, seeing as I’ve always been a Milwaukee man. If you favor Dewalt tools, then you may already have what you need. The only reason I bring this up is because you're going to need to add the price of the saw, batteries and charger together to get a true price.(Chain & bar)Both a six and eight inch bar and chain are included, but no extra chains.(Ergonomics)The saw feels well balanced, it can be operated with one or two hands.(2x4 test)I wanted to give you an idea of how much wood you could cut with a fully charged battery. So to make it relatable, I set a 2x4 up in a vice and just started cutting slices off it until the battery died. (At least that was the plan) After thirty cuts I gave up as I wasn’t seeing any lowering in performance. Of course battery testing is very subjective, in that I could be using a fully charged new battery while yours is not.(Performance)I found the saw had enough power to cut, without bogging down, anything I threw at it. I believe this saw used within its limitations will perform very well. I say used within its limitations because if you're cutting eight inch limbs/branches all day then it might be time to switch to your big boy saw.(Previous mini saw)My previous mini saw did not have a built-in oiler. You needed to carry a small bottle with you all the time and give it a squirt, what a pain. This saw has an oil reservoir built in with a quick release cap. I suspect it’s gravity feed, but I’m not sure. Make sure to check the reservoir frequently as it’s a thirsty little saw. My previous mini saw had a conventional tension adjusting screw located next to the bar, which I’ve never been a fan of. This saw has a side mount adjuster via a turn knob. No tools needed and quick.(Carrying case and accessories)A lanyard is included so you don’t drop the saw should you be up a tree, and is beefy enough to hang any full size saw off from. If you can break this lanyard then you have bigger problems heading your way. There is no carrying case, which is fine, as a lot of the mini saws that do supply a carrying case, require you to remove the bar each time you put it in the case.(Stars)I’m giving this saw four out of five stars. Not because there is anything wrong with it, but because the one thing I can’t test is how well it will hold up over time. Almost anything new will work well, so let’s see how well it’s doing after the summer is over.In all I’m happy with this saw, albeit I’ve only used it a few times. I think if used for what it was designed for, it will be a nice addition to my tree cutting options. Now I’m just waiting for the snow to go away

This is a review for the Mini Chainsaw for Dewalt 20V Max Battery, 8-Inch and 6-Inch 2-IN-1 Cordless Electric Chain saw with Brushless Motor and Auto-Oiler, 800W Hand Mini Chainsaw for Tree Pruning Wood Cutting (No Battery). This product is a mini chainsaw designed to be powered by Dewalt 20V battery packs. It is very lightweight, weighing 1.43 kg (3.15 lbs) without a battery. A Dewalt 5Ah battery pack would add about 0.5 kg (1.1 lbs). The product comes with a 6" bar and chain attached. It's shipped in a box that includes several accessories: an 8-inch bar, an 8-inch mini 1/4-inch chain, a pair of lightweight white gloves, a plastic bottle with a spout for adding bar oil, a plastic pair of safety glasses, and a "3.3ft Super Convenient Waist Cord." The 6-inch bar extends 5 5/8 inches from the chainsaw housing—note that most chainsaws round the working bar length, so this discrepancy is not unusual. There is also a plastic blade shield that fits the 6-inch and 8-inch bars and is labeled for a 4-inch bar, though one is not provided.I was initially concerned about the availability of high-wear parts. However, I found a replacement mini 1/4-inch 8-inch chain on Amazon for just over $10 and a comparable replacement 8-inch bar for around $20. If you are concerned about parts availability, I encourage you to check for yourself and perhaps pick up some spares. Also, you will need a supply of bar and chain oil.The documentation provided with the chainsaw is very helpful. If you purchase this item, I strongly recommend reading the first 9–10 pages, which go into great detail on how to safely use the saw. Too often, I have seen people use chainsaws in very unsafe ways. One critical point is the importance of eye protection. Chainsaws can throw debris unpredictably, and wearing safety glasses or goggles is essential to prevent serious injury. Fortunately, the manufacturer includes a basic pair of plastic safety glasses, which is a nice touch. This chainsaw requires oil to operate. Running it without oil is less effective, dangerous, and will rapidly degrade the bar and chain. The manual specifies using high-quality bar and chain oil, which makes perfect sense. Bar and chain oil is thick and sticky, designed to stay on the chain. I know some people use old motor oil instead, but I don’t recommend it. Used motor oil is dirty (hence why it’s replaced), and it’s much thinner than bar oil, meaning it won’t lubricate as well or last as long. Yes, motor oil is cheaper, but a gallon of proper bar oil—which will last for years with this small saw—only costs about $15. So, if you’re ordering this chainsaw, I’d suggest picking up some bar and chain oil as well.Adding oil to the saw is very easy, and the included bottle makes the process hassle-free. The oil port is quite small, so a funnel likely wouldn’t work well, but the provided bottle dispenses oil precisely. This is a great inclusion in the package!I’m not entirely sure what the waist cord is for. It’s just over three feet (1 meter) long, made of 10mm cord, with loops at each end and locking carabiners attached. These are NOT climbing-grade carabiners, as they have no strength rating on the spine. I strongly recommend NOT using them for anything other than their intended purpose. My best guess is that this cord is meant to attach to your waist and the chainsaw, preventing it from falling when pruning from an elevated position. The build quality is quite good. It has the look, feel, and heft of a Dewalt product. I found no flaws in the chainsaw itself or the provided accessories. The plastic parts are sturdy, and it’s easy to change the bar and adjust chain tension. No special tools are required, and the process outlined in the documentation is simple and effective. Now, how does it perform? I put it to the test on an old brush pile. Most of the branches I cut were between 1 and 3 inches (2.5–7.6 cm) in diameter, and the saw cut through them effortlessly. I was extremely pleased with the results. Likewise, larger branches were easily cut. A 5Ah Dewalt battery easily lasted for an hour of work. I used the 6-inch bar for this job.It took a little time to get used to the two-handed grip. Do not use this chainsaw one-handed—it would be too easy to lose your grip if the tip of the saw kicks back.Would I return this to Amazon after using it for a simple job like clearing a brush pile or pruning? No way—this thing is awesome! I don’t often need a chainsaw, but when I do, it’s essential. A battery-powered one makes perfect sense for occasional use on smaller jobs. Nice!
