It’s suitable, remember it’s light duty. If you don’t force it let machin do the work it’s great.

It's a 2.1A motor, not a 3.0 Amp motor as stated in the product description. That said, it works as well as I expected.

Making some Woden draw pills and used it to sand down the inside of the handles.Thai is the best $80 tool I have ever purchased. Assembly was a breeze, never opened the manual. Getting the table attached and to a right angle to the belt was simple. The sander runs smoothly, zero vibration.

Very useful machine. It is compact and light, and bogs down under too much pressure, but it does a great job as a light surface sander. the air/dust outlet could use a lip or something to make a 3D printed adapter for a vacuum easier to make, but otherwise totally satisfied.

These little devils are the bees knees for knife sharpening. Watch the you tube vids. Toss the table, the plastic side guard, the platten and the clear plastic guard. Lay it on its back so the belt is turning away from you and go to town. A pack of 400 belts, one of 600 and one of 1000 if you are a sharpaholic like me, then two of the leather belts ( one for black compound and one for white ) and you will have the sharpest possible knives in the least amount of time possible. You have to hand stretch the leather belts a bit and it takes a bit of careful working to get them on the rollers the first couple times but its not bad.Someday I'll spring for a real bench belt sander but this is good for now. It's not strong enough for knife making but for sharpening it is perfect. Knives and chisels and such it is fine. An axe head would be a bit much.A Few Month's Later: Still feel the same. If this thing dies I'll chuck it and buy another one immediately.

For $60, I'd buy another. This isn't the highest quality sander, but it's pretty inexpensive and gets the job done. I have had a few issues with it, however,1. The tracking knob came completely off and I wasn't able to adjust the tracking. I epoxied it back on and it worked ok for a while, but it eventually popped off again. I just ended up grinding the flats on the back of the captive screw that adjusts the tracking so i can turn it with pliers.2. The adjustable roller for the track is sticking for some reason to the point where the machine locked up. Probably just dirty. I admit I didn't clean it out as often as I probably should have. I'm looking into it now.All in all, it was a great workhorse for all of last year and I'm sure once I fix the roller, it'll run fine. It's plenty powerful for small woodworking tasks and I'm sure you could do some metal grinding on it as well. For the price, I'm ok with having it be a bit of a project to fix. When it's working fine, it's working great.
