Loved this ,until it broke, heavy , works best as a rough sander first , not good for finer finishes, if you need to sand down some rough wood , this is the tool to use , just keep a good grip on the handle, the bad is no parts available from the manufacturer, I broke a belt after about 3 years of hard work , no replacement belts would fit , stuck with buying a replacement unit or a different brand .q

I've got several Galax Pro power tools now and have never yet been disappointed. I'm a hobby wood worker. I don't use the tools to death. They are the perfect balance between price and durability for the amateur. Professionals may have different demands, but for amateurs, the value presented by this company make the ownership of a range of good tools possible.

Used this belt sander for about 4 hours running time so far at various speeds and it performs well. The belts that come with it are not the greatest but the sander is as good as the last brand I owned and it’s about 30% less expensive. The dust bag is easy to install and remove and it collects about half the dust that is generated which is pretty good for this type of sander. The automatic belt tracking works well

Shipped fast, good quality, good heavy weight, worked great. The sandpaper that had come with it, isn't the best of quality. I still ran the paper to see how it would work. The paper worked well on semi-smooth surfaces, but not so well for making finish work. I put quality paper on the sander and put it through it's paces. Held up really well and worked well finishing a bench I was working on. The included bag it came with didn't fit the sander very well, but after heating and molding another plastic over the exit, it snuggled up nicely. Although, I just hooked a shop-vac to it. I recommend for any light work, not so much for heavier projects.

Front flap won't stay up. Heal of the base plate cuts belts up if you are not careful. But worked well.

I bought this to help strip-down and refinish a 300 square foot deck. It chewed through sandpaper as it tackled the deck over 20 hours of use. The front roller came with a thin rubber coating that has worn off after 30 sandpaper belts. The easy open/close lever for changing the belt is nice, but you can burn your hand opening the lever if the bottom plate of the sander is hot if you change paper right after sanding something. I used a portable leaf-blower to blow out the dust in the sander between belt changes and that helped cool the bottom plate. I found the electric cable where it exited the sander and the wire in the almost useless dust bag to be in the way more often than not. Ergonomically, I feel this belt sander is better suited to right-handed people.

Broke after 10 min. The belt stopped turning and couldn't get it to work. The instructions do not help troubleshoot and there is no customer support. All I can say is Amazon was great and took it back after I had used it.

Nice item, one issue with the plastic molding (first picture). Instructions left a little bit out on some features/functions.I purchased this because the metal plate looked like it can be moved and work like a spindle sander. I looked through the instructions and found nothing on how to use the tip for the inside of a curve. I found a latch on the handle that released the lock on the handle. The handle has 3 positions. In the vertical position (picture 3) the aluminum plate can be moved out and holds its position. When putting the plate back down I just pushed it down, it felt like something could break, but I didn’t see a release.I had already used it for what I needed it for and knowing the the handle needed to be moved for the plate to go up and hold would have been helpful. On thing I wasn’t sure about was the adjuster. The belt sits on the adjuster piece but the adjuster piece is smaller than the belt by half an inch or so. I assume this is fine. I just thought it would be the same width as the belt or a little wider.
