This is an outstanding cat playpen that exactly suits my cats' needs, although I ended up spending extra on accessories (see below). I selected this playpen because I trust Midwest due to our high quality Midwest dog crate, and also for this playpen's competitive price, 4 secure-fasten doors, slide-out bottom tray, size/height, and wheels with brakes. I found it easy to assemble this by myself, although I have a knack, take my time, and follow instructions. This cat playpen does not need any zip ties at all, and is extremely sturdy, well-designed, and 100% safe with no jagged or sharp corners/edges. I wheel this playpen all over my one story ranch home as needed with my cats inside it. I have 3 adult cats who like to sleep in it at night, and a few who sometimes use it in the daytime. These cats range 9-13 pounds. If traveling, I can add a fourth cat to this playpen, but I'd buy a third cushion.ACCESSORIES: I ended up buying an extra cushion (identical to the one that comes with it) as well as the Midwest vertical/slanted "exit" ramps for ferrets (with washable aqua covers). (I superglued the rubber protective covers to the feet of those ramps for extra safety.) Those ramps fit fairly well in this cage and help 3 cats navigate around each other. I also added a hammock up top, 2 stainless steel crate food/water bowls that attach to the crate, and a cardboard box "cat bed" on the bottom to keep kitty litter from flinging into the bottom tier cat bed.If I need to evacuate for another hurricane, I will take both crates (playpen and dog crate) to keep all my cats safe, so it's great that they are easily foldable for the trip, and I'm keeping the instructions handy in case we have to evacuate in a rush.

Good thing I saw this product, because I was planning to construct a playpen made of wood and chicken wire. due to the pandemic and quarantine, nobody was available. Instead I bought this. Serves the purpose of having my cats each on their playpen while I am on video calls, and instead of them hovering around the camera, keyboard and background.

I found a 3 week kitten in a tree, that was injured. Brought her home, took her to the vet and began shopping. This cage was the wisest purchase ever. Kittens roam and get into all kind of trouble. When we weren't watching she made it pass the fireplace covering, and almost got hurt. Tried to get behind & inside the fridge, stove, dresser, closet... any and everywhere she can squeeze into. She is a little over 10 weeks, and still gets into trouble. The cage is big, and roomy. We put in a nice fluffy cat tree. She jump from the tree to the top sitting area of the cage. Still had room for her to climb on those racks that attaches to the sides and the sides of cage. She sleeps on the racks, and I put her food bowl there sometimes. Now she climbs and lay on the top on the roof. The dog cant put his nose, or paw through the wires. He tries to eat her food. There are 4 ways - doors- to open it up. So you can have room to put in, and take out "kitty furniture".I know cats are to roam free, but sometimes they have to be protected by caging. If she bites the dog tail too much, and they irritate each other I have to cage her. No biting, or bullying. I cant let her roam the house while I sleep, and cant have the dog interact with her while I'm asleep. She is tiny, and he's a big lab. His way of playing or showing love can hurt her. Pushing her with his nose tossed her across the room when she was tiny. He looked shocked, and sad when I scolded him. Caging when i leave keeps her safe...From herself, and everything else.THIS CAGE IS PEREFCT .Summary: strong, easy to assemble. Well made from top to bottom. It is pretty big, and spacious. Plastic bottom protects her paw, and it comes with soft pad to lay on. She prefers the soft tree house though instead of pad. This cage is a must.

We bought this as we have just bought 2 Ragdoll kittens that are 7 months old, we live right on the sea and have a large balcony. So that our little terrors escape we got this so we can all enjoy time outside as they are house cats. They were unsure the first few times of being in there but now love having the door open and wandering in to get a better view at height. It was easy to put together but we reinforced the sides and shelves with cable ties just for peace of mind, 😍

I'm writing this to thank all of those who previously reviewed this product - they helped me make an informed decision when buying it.After getting my husband to release a hook that had been pushed out of place during shipping (making it impossible to separate the layers of wire grid and pull them upright) I put it together by myself in about an hour. I found the wheels tricky to attach so I used scotch tape to hold the bolts and the two plates in place over the grid while I fastened the nuts. I had to use pliers and a screwdriver together, to get the nuts tight enough. I'd suggest adding this advice in the instructions. It was tricky to raise the pieces and hold them in place while I hooked everything together and the advice about tie wraps/twist ties was invaluable: so THANK YOU for the person who provided that.I have raised this kitten since it was just hours old (feral, left by the mother, found under a wheelchair ramp at a hospital). At about 3 and a half weeks, I put her in the bottom of the enclosure in a cat carrier with the door open so I could supervise her activity and still close the door when I couldn't be there. After about ten days, she was big enough that I removed the carrier. The gap around the bottom above the tray is fairly large when dealing with a tiny kitten, so I rolled towels and put them against it - I was mainly concerned she would hurt her tiny legs if they got through.I built a ramp out of cardboard and sticky carpet tiles and set it on the bottom to reach the first shelf, to allow her to both learn to climb and get some exercise. This worked out perfectly, especially with the cushy bed on that shelf. It also had the advantage of giving her a little sheltered area to sleep, with a pet bed under the ramp.We call this The Catatorium and it solved a really big problem for us - how to keep her safe and isolated from our other cats until she is large enough and can get vaccinated. She is now 6 weeks old and races up and down the ramp, and plays vigorously with no problems.Any issues (stuck hook, fastening the wheels in place, large gap at the bottom) were easily solved and I couldn't be happier with the end result. Now I just have to find her a home! Black and white tuxedo tabby, polydactyl, looks like she will have long hair, very pretty face, extremely outgoing and playful....I don't think I'll have a problem!

The "playpen" is great. It's spacious enough for a large cat without being overly cramped. Still, I would not expect a cat to want to be confined in this cage for all time. I intend to use mine as an infirmary for a new stray kitten I plan to bring inside after she's spayed. I will then use it to integrate this new kitten into the household of two other cats, and hopefully it will help me keep the peace. My first order came with a broken clasp and bottom tray, but Amazon made the return super easy (UPS came and picked it up/came back three times because it was raining and I didn't want to leave it outside). The second order seems to be very slightly bent in some places, enough to not make one side of the pen sit properly. However, it's so slight this could be the result of user assembly error.Assembly is more difficult than it need be. My suggestion is to have a second person on hand when assembling the main structure of the cage. One person can hold the thing up and keep it from collapsing while the other person attaches all of the sides. The instructions really could be clearer in this regard. The sides slide together, and some of the the horizontal bars slide and snap down into loop-brackets (that's really the only word I can think of to describe them) from top to bottom at each corner. The toughest part is the wheels. The screws are the most difficult aspect of the whole assembly. Each screw comes with: a screw, a flat round washer, a thicker nut, and an extra round washer that is not mentioned in the instructions. This extra round washer is split, like a broken link in a chain. This round, split washer is supposed to go on just above the nut, and it keeps the screw and nut from jiggling apart over time. (The order of installation, from top to bottom, for the wheel components are: flat washer on top, thin metal wheel assembly plate, cage, fat plastic wheel assembly plate, wheel, round washer, nut.) This should be pretty simple. However, the screw is about 1/8 to 1/4 inch too short! It's really tough to get everything to fit on the little short screws they send. I finally discovered that if I took my pliers and squeezed the round, split washers I could get the split ends to line up better, and the thing would take up less room. This made things considerably easier, but still took more effort than should be really necessary. The screw head is easy to strip, so have both a smallish phillips and flat screw driver on hand. If the phillips (makes the shape of an X ) part gets stripped out, you can switch to the slightly more challenging flat screw driver (makes the shape of an | ) to finish the job. Lastly, the wheels should be installed close to each corner, at almost the last cross of wires. If you inset the wheels, the cage wobbles. The diagram is really unclear, and seems to indicate you should position the wheels further from the edge, but it's wrong. The text tells you correctly where to place the wheels.
