Purchased this gas valve for a fire pit. Installed the valve but found it would not fully seal when in the closed position. Enough gas passed through the valve to keep a small flame going on the burner. Took the valve off and noticed a small gap in the seal around the ball valve that probably caused the leak. I initiated a return through Amazon and took the chance with a replacement valve versus a refund. The new valve arrived the next day. Got it installed and it works great. The free return and the quick replacement earns 4 stars. Had to take one star off for having to replace the valve in the first place.

Well built with nice finish. First time cracking open the valve was very hard…. Recommend putting the ball valve body in a vise and using a regular wrench to break it off it’s seat. Once that’s done the first time it’s easy to turn with the supplied key wrench.

Good quality ball valve which does the job ver well. The ball valve was very tight initially; it literally hurt my hand while trying to turn it open but got better slightly better overtime. Turning anti-clockwise will open the flow valve and clockwise will shut off the gas flow. After we did the plumbing with inlet on one side and outlet on the other side; we closed the ball valve and pumped air into the mainline to ensure there were no leaks followed by spraying soap water. Feels solid and works solid comes with a ~ 9” key.

sent it back for EXCHANGE as there is tiny bit of gas leaking through when closed, hope new one does the trick

Bought it for a natural gas fire pit. Looks like I will get many years of use out of it.

This Midwest Hearth fire pit key valve is exactly what I needed for a full bore key valve. It doesn’t reduce the size of the opening like most key valves (see my photos). It’s a tight valve which insures no leaking. If you want a key valve that easy to turn, you might be looking at leaking issues in the future. This valve is exactly what I wanted. I included several photos with a tape measure so you can see the exact dimensions.

Update: 8/18/2020Great valve! Great customer support! Required extra leverage to break the ball valve free from factory. Works like a charm now.Just opened the ball valve and it is missing the ball valve. Major bummer since I was planning on installing it this weekend. Hope the replacement works!Update (4/21/2020):Received the replacement with the same issue🤦🏻♂️👎🏼😡
