The steamer worked as indicated, however the little insert in the bottom doesn't really make a difference between using this and a regular microwave safe bowl. The only difference is I don't have to stir the vegetables hallway through, but the vegetables are still difficult to get out without also getting water with them.I didn't really notice the flimsy aspect other's described, and both container sizes were nice.

I bought these to use when I ran out of steamer bags. These seem to work better since the veggies aren’t dried out as much in this.

I steam my mixed vegetables in the microwave so I thought I would give these silicone steamers a go and whilst they do work well, they have a few drawbacks.I’ll get the negatives out of the way first as there are only two of them and they’re no big deal really:1)The design of the steamers is a bit strange as the end that you handle them is also the open end, where all the steam comes out. So you need to use oven gloves to handle them when they come out of the microwave.2) There is a little silicone tray at the bottom of each steamer but my mixed veg managed to make its way underneath it so I had to fish peas and sweetcorn out of the water. I just wish the inner tray was larger so it could be taken out with your food inside, leaving the cooking water in the steamer.I think if you’re steaming larger items they’ll be great and the smaller steamer is perfectly sized for fish. They are very useful, compact to store and easy to clean so I do recommend them but just be aware of the slight niggles.

This is a nice set of two microwave steamers, the silicone material os quite thick but also rather flexible. They do work well and I’ve had success with steaming fish and veg in them. The little trivet in the bottom does a good job of keeping the food above the steaming water. They wash well in the dishwasher and store pretty easily too. The only niggle I have with these is they are a bit tricky to get them sealed properly but mine were quite buckled when they arrived due to how they had been packed so that might have a bearing on it.

Be careful when removing from microwave. They are flimsy and could burn with hot water. Otherwise works for veggies and is easy to clean

These steamers are great for microwave steaming. I do a lot of food steaming, and really appreciate how easy they are to use and the clean-up is a breeze. Totally recommend!

I wanted to like these but after using them, jury is out. I use a large plastic steamer frequently in the microwave, but I wanted something smaller when I am only preparing a small amount of food. As other reviews note, they are probably flimsier than you would be used to. But they do hold their shape. The issue I have with them is the steamer "rack". It doesn't allow that much liquid to sit in the bottom for steaming and it is so flexible that when you put your food on top of it, the food flattens the rack. So your food is sitting in the liquid rather than above it. I have only steamed frozen green beans and it works fine on them. I don't know if I would want to use it on a piece of fish because I definitely would want the fish sitting well above the liquid. The other issue I have with it is that it absorbs the odor of the food you are steaming. In fact, it absorbs odors of whatever you put in there, even without steaming. I had sauteed onion in a pan and added it to the green beans I steamed in this steamer to mix them up. I actually used the steamer as my serving piece - I like the lid on it because it is attached and you can close it up easily to keep the food warm. However, when I washed the steamer, it continued to smell of onion. I had to wash it 3 times to get most of the smell out. The next time I used it, I noted that it smelled like cooked green beans even after I washed it. So that is a negative to me.
