The color on the screw heads is painted with a two part polyurethane for long life. EPDM washer seals the screw to the roof to prevent leaking.

The biggest issue I've had with this type of screw in the past is paint chipping. I'm very happy with the quality of the screw and the paint. No chipping as of yet. The threads bite good and the rubber is soft for a good seal. Functions as they should
