About this item

  • ‣POUR LIKE A PRO: Trusted by professinoal baristas and enthusiasts the world over, the Melodrip delivers pour over coffee with enhanced flavor clarity and less bitterness, so only the best flavors are expressed to their fullest potential.
  • ‣UPGRADES YOUR GRIND: The Melodrip eliminates kettle agitation to prevent fine particles from flowing through your filter paper and clogging your brew, similar to brewing with a high quality grind from a professional grinder. This produces brews that are exceptional in flavor with a consistent extraction every time.
  • ‣STEADY FLOW TECHNOLOGY: The Melodrip buffers any harsh errors in your pour, that can produce uneven or over extracted flavors. When pouring with melodrip, strong and soft pours are evened out, delivering ideal results whether your kettle flow is too fast or shaky.
  • ‣FULL CONTROL: Handheld control allows Melodrip to fit into and maneuver across any pour over dripper on the market. Position Melodrip close to the brewbed for gentle agitation to remove gasses after blooming, then position melodrip high for minimized agitation to maintain the perfect percolation.
  • ‣PROFESSIONAL GRADE MATERIALS: The Melodrip is elegantly crafted out of Stainless Steel and Tritan and engineered to withstand high temperatures and impact, tested through rigorous professional and competitive use.

Who is melodrip?

Hey Coffee Enthusiast!

A little background on who MD is: melodrip co. began with a mission to create precision instruments that offered coffee enthusiasts a new perspective on brewing. In 2018, with the help of kickstarter and the global coffee community, our first product "melodrip" was born. Since then, our product has helped establish the importance of "flavor clarity" in pour over coffee, as well as introducing the world to "controlled agitation brewing".

For the past 4 years we have contributed to dozens of top ranked coffee competition routines, disrupted the status quo of traditional brewing methodology worldwide, all the while helping baristas and home brewers brew consistently cleaner, sweeter, cups of pour over coffee every day.

To better coffee!

melodrip top

Pour over redefined.

The melodrip is a brewing instrument that re-distributes your kettle pours to prevent suspended particles from escaping your filter paper and muddling your brew.

In the cup, you'll experience a silky body, heightened sweetness, and a brew with unparalleled flavor clarity.

How to melodrip.

melodrip pour

1.Pour

First pour 3 times the weight of your dry coffee. This saturates the grounds and preps the coffee for percolation.

melodrip stir

2.Stir

Use the included glass stick to break up any dry pockets in your coffee slurry. This let's you saturate everything your kettle doesn't!

melodrip pulse

3.Melodrip

melodrip 3 times the weight of your dry coffee. Repeat again when the water level drops right above your coffee slurry. melodrip ensures more water is percolated through your coffee so flavors are evenly extracted from beginning to end.

melodrip serve

4.Serve

Enjoy the cleanest brew! Sweetness and Vibrancy are more defined with a Crisp and Silky mouthfeel.

It has a learning curve for sure, but it can produce the most uniquely extracted coffee, too.

I was very surprised at what a difference this makes. Smoothes things out and makes flavors more robust at the same time. Very happy with the purchase. I would recommend this to any coffee geek who wants to level up their pour over game.

i love my pour over coffee makers and this thing does a great jog of making a great thing even better. i have been using it with Chemex, Hario and kalita and it enhances all three. it take a bit longer to make coffee but good things come to those who wait right? yes of course right.

I've been curious about trying something like this for a long time with pourover brewing.First, it does work. If you're careful you can see a clear layer of water on top of the coffee bed and the bed looks uniform and undisturbed after brewing. But the problem is I'm having trouble getting a good extraction while using this. For V60 I typically use a grind of around 7 on my Ditting grinder which is supposed to correspond to 700 microns for the grind. Testing with a refractometer I usually get 20-21% extraction using this grind. Using the melodrip I tried a 6.5 grind and only got a 16% extraction. I went down to a 5 and the brew only increased to 17.2%. I think to get a 20-21% extraction I would need to grind really, really fine and then you have to worry about channeling with a grind that fine. Some brews with this were interesting and not entirely unpleasant but at the same time a bit strange. A brew with a chemex resulted in coffee that wasn't sour and had some flavor clarity but had a really thin, watery mouthfeel. It was more like tea than coffee. So it was fun to try but not something I will probably use very often. You're reducing agitation but I suspect the brew water is also being cooled somewhat making a full extraction more difficult.

Second only to a high quality grinder, the Melodrip has quickly become the most important component of my coffee brewing routine.Nothing else has given me near the control of speed and flow that I’m able to achieve with this thing, and my coffee has been substantially – and consistently – more delicious since adding this to my extensive collection of nerdy coffee tools. I have several other pouring pitchers and shower heads, and while they’re OK, none of them has proven to be near as useful or effective as the Melodrip.Highly recommended.
