I received the lens and went to do a firmware update as instructed. The lens would not connect to my computer even after trying several USB-C cables. I even tried a second computer with no luck. I wrote to Tech Support at the manufacturer and received a reply. “Try more cables”. I guess 3 different cables and two computers were not enough!?!?! I processed a return and sent the lens back.

What can you say, it's a fantastic little lense for the price and pleasingly sharp for a walk around lense. I took this with me to car week in Monterey this year and shot with my ZF and it turned out some great quality images. The auto focus is quick and snappy which is impressive for its price point. The build quality is adequate but nothing to write home about but definitely not cheap feeling. The lense is extremely light weight which makes it nice to carry around all day. Overall very happy with the lense and would recommend to others.

Are you just trying to get started with full frame Nikon Z mirrorless photography but have a restricted budget? Although l own many very expensive lenses l didn’t have a 50mm in Z mount yet so l figured that was a good excuse to buy the super inexpensive lens to try out on my Z8. Yes, very expensive cameras need very good lenses, but let’s see what happens;Short answer is that it works better than anticipated. If l were a professional l would stick to the Nikon 50mm as it’s likely better everywhere except price. But the images l’ve taken look just fine for my photo album & posting to social media.I think this lens is a great fit for someone on a strict budget maybe buying a used Z5 or Z6 body to break into full frame photography. Keep in mind it has no stabilization so you’ll need a steady hand, or higher shutter speeds on cameras without built in stabilization. That aside it’s decently sharp, light weight, & won’t break the bank. I’d give it 4-Stars but that super price bumps it to 5.

Very lightweight and price is perfect for those looking for a decent 50mm lens. Images are sharp but there is a minor issue which is why I gave it 4 stars out of 5. Nikon Z50 - There is a light blue color fringe when you zoom in to see details. It could be fixed when editing your images. First image I have included you could see it by the whiskers. Second image is shot with a Nikon Z8 - You could see similar effect on the image as well. Overall focusing is fast and images are sharp. I would definitely recommend this lens if you are on a budget and looking for a lens that won't break the bank.

I received the Meike 50mm F1.8 for Nikon Z mount relatively quickly from Amazon after purchase and was impressed by the optical and autofocus performance this lens gave, especially with respect to its price point at 1/3 of the Nikkor equivalent.Autofocus works well and quietly, and the lens hardly hunted when I was out with it. At wide-open aperture F1.8, I appreciated the good level of sharpness and detail reproduction the lens delivered together with a pleasant render for the out-of-focus areas. Stepping down, one can see a quick improvement in overall sharpness across the image. Colors are nicely saturated and do not come out overbearing.I do wish for a shorter minimum focusing distance at times, but for a 50mm focal length, here is me being fussy. The build, though not full metal, is overall decent, exhibiting no flex and a good amount of rigidness, and this is a lens one can bring around on a trip without fear of it being fragile. The provided hood works as it should, minimizing flare, and to be frank, the coatings are fine enough that overall, the lens itself is already quite resistant to flares. This is a release from Meike worth considering, especially for those seeking value and on a budget.

I am very impressed with this lens. I did not have a 50MM Z mount with autofocus when i migrated from DSLR to Mirrorless. This is about a quarter the cost of a Nikkor, so can be considered a budget lens. Immediately I noticed how light this is compared to my F Mount equivalent. It is a nice length and the focus wheel is smooth with a little resistance. There is a red rubber seal at the back of the lens. I am not sure how much this makes it weather sealed, and it is not something I want to try with a brand new lens.I took some photos in my back yard to test it out, I shot at F1.8, F5.6, F8 and F11, for me F8 seems to be the sharpest and the sweetspot, F8 is when the corners lose any and all softness, F5.6 I think is the most user friendly setting for this lens, except for wide open when a really shallow field of depth is required. These minimum focus length is a little longer also, but nothing I cannot work around for a quarter of the price of a Nikkor. This serves me well as a hobbyist. The focus it spot on almost all of the time, there were a couple of times it went hunting, but it was also darker under my patio and that was to be expected. Lens flare is also very good while using this lens in the direct bright sun and contrast on this lens also feel on par with Nikkor. i did not get a chance to upgrade to the latest camera firmware, as it worked without it. However I do want to test more with the latest firmware soom.

I am a content creator and about a year ago I purchased the LUMIX S5IIX and have been rocking the kit lens ever since. I really wanted to upgrade that lens but just couldn’t afford to. When I saw this one I took a shot. I couldn’t be happier this lens punches so far above its weight class it’s crazy. I can now make amazing looking content and I feel happy because it’s within my budget. Idk how they did it. I’m getting the 85mm next and I am praying they do like a wide lens like 16 or a 20. This is my most favorite lens now and it stays on my camera. Thank you, Meike!

There are smaller 50mm lenses for Z-mount out there. However, it's going to be difficult to get an f/1.8 this sharp for anywhere near the price of this one. Example pix have been brightened and cropped/converted to JPG, but that's it. Highly recommended for folks looking for their first "nifty fifty," or for those who just want to try different better-quality prime lenses.

Reasonable weight lens. The autofocus does respond quite well with Panasonic Lumix camera. A great value for the money spent.
