These filters do not last as long as Vornado filters.

These are for my Vornado humidifier. I can't tell the difference between these and the name brand. It's a paper filter, not magic. Don't pay full price when you don't need to!A couple of notes to help people.1. Change your filters when you notice that your water tanks take more than a few days to drain.... remember when it was new and sucked down water constantly? it should be close to that. for me, my system usually drains its 3 gallon tanks over ~4 days. once it's been more than a week between having to add water, it's time to either clean or replace the filters.2. You can try to clean the filters if you have very hard water, and they do not have any mold or mildew on them (basically, they are just caked in scale). to do this, put plain water in your sink, no chemicals, lay one filter flat in the water, hold it down gently to let it get saturated. then wait a few minutes. After you wait, you can gently crush the filter to break up the scale on the outside. flip the filter over and do it again on the other side. Carefully lift the filter out of the water and inspect. If it's still holding together well, and you see a lot of scale flakes in your sink, you can likely reuse the filter, but this isn't a cure all, it's maybe adding 20% of useful life to it at best.3. Carefully clean your humidifier. do not use scrubby pads or anything abrasive like a brush or bottle brush. these will scratch the plastic and give places for mold and mildew to live. instead use really soft towels and instead rely on calcium/lime/rust style cleaners to break the existing scale/mold/slime, etc off of it. I use tilex cleaner and just spray it on twice over 15 minutes, then rinse and wash with a microfiber washcloth. it's a little gross to deal with the mold it sometimes get, so wear gloves if it bothers you, or if it's heavy. Wash and rinse thoroughly. you do not want any chemical cleaner on your filters, as they will cause them to disintegrate or be unable to wick up water.

They are well made and they hold up over time better than anything else I have found.

I decided to try the Fil-fresh MD1-0034 Replacement Humidifier Wick on my Vornado Humidifier. Not disappointed at all.First off, these wicks are cheaper than the Vornado replacements. That is a huge deal. I change filters about every 10 days to two weeks. Do I need to, no, but that is my preference.Secondly, they appear to have the same density which is really the only difference that matters as long as they fit, which they do.The size is exactly the same as the name brand.I will monitor how well they work based on how quickly they discolor compared to the name brand. That will be less of an issue for me as I do like to change them often. I am just uncomfortable with a discolored filter. Mentally I feel like the longer they are in use the more bacteria and growth exist. That is not acceptable in my mind. True or not.Saving a few dollars for every wick change adds up for me so no doubt I will continue to go the "generic" route.

I live in Colorado where the humidity is always low. Around this time of year when it starts getting a bit colder and we have to fire up the furnace, humidity indoors plummets. Lotion, chapstick, and a humidifier become our best friends. I've tried a number of humidifiers in the past five years since I have two young boys who need the humidity or their skin starts to crack. After going through probably 4 different brands/styles, I landed on evaporative coolers because they don't leave the white dust stuff that ultrasonic humidifiers do. The only bad part about this style of cooler is that it needs an evaporative wick to carry the water, so we end up going through a two pack of wicks every month to keep it running optimally.I've gotten used to the cadence of filling my humidifier every two days. I have the EVDC500 which has two large water tanks. In my home, it seems like we go through just about a tank of water per day. Up until this point, I've used exclusively OEM filters. I can tell when they're in need of a change because my water tanks start lasting longer than two days.I received this product and noticed that each wick is individually wrapped. I unwrapped two wicks and replaced the two OEM wicks that had stopped absorbing water. I refilled my water tanks, and noticed two days later that both tanks were basically empty. This suggests that they absorb water at the same rate as OEM wicks.I recommend this product if you have a compatible humidifier. They work just like OEM and are cheaper to save you some money!
