I was worried about the screws at first but it was super to use. The screws went through the aluminum as well as my metal garage door.Remember to use soapy water so the rubber slide more easier.My garage room is somewhat a bit more insulated after this upgrade :) have a nice day.

I installed this onto two different garage doors—we have a two-car garage with separate single doors.Like other reviewers complained, the rubber came bent, because of the way it is folded around the metal bars in the packaging. I opened it and hung it in my garage for several days thinking that would stretch out those fold marks but that did not work. What did work perfectly was to lay it out on the driveway in the sun while I removed the old weather stripping from the doors. The sun makes the rubber warm and soft and those folds came right out.The channel bar is a little wider than my old wooden garage doors. The instructions say to center the channel on the bottom of the door, but I thought it looked better to have it even with the front of the door and the excess of the width extending into the inside of the garage, so I installed it that way and am happy with it.I used clear packing tape to hold the metal channel onto the bottom of the garage door while I drilled holes. Even though it’s supposedly not necessary to drill holes, I did so because I think it just makes it easier to get the screws in. I attached the first 4.5 foot metal track bar first, then marked and cut the excess off the second one with a hack saw. I installed the second metal channel bar with the factory cut end on the outside of the door and the end that I cut, facing the other bar.When I stood back, I could see some light coming in between my old wooded garage door bottom and the metal track, so I put in a couple of extra screws. It tightened right up and removed those spots with the slight gap.The hardest part was fishing the rubber into the channels because the track for the garage door is in the way. This made that easier:I “fished” the rubber into the channels without shoving it in—I used two hands—one to gently bend the rubber around the door track and I found that it helped to use the other hand to press UP slightly on the bottom of the U shaped rubber to help take the pressure off it hanging in the channel. At the same time I did that, my husband also used two hands to slide the rubber down the channel. He put one finger inside the far end of the U and GENTLY slid it along, at the same time that I “fed” it in from my end. We worked together. We got a little technique going and by the time we got to the second garage door, it was pretty fast to get the whole rubber in. I was glad that we did two single doors instead of one long double door—the additional length of a double door will make the job more difficult. I read some online instructions that said a few drops of dish soap may make the job easier. I though about doing that where the rubber has to slide along the edge of the metal garage door track, but I decided against it because I didn’t want my fingers slippery—I thought it might make holding onto the rubber more difficult.When all done, this is working beautifully. I also installed a rubber threshold onto the garage floor a week earlier. The new floor threshold and this U shaped weather stripping on the bottom of the doors are working together to keep our previously wet garage floor bone dry now. And they look great and fresh.I am very happy with this product.I write honest reviews because I read reviews myself and appreciate how helpful they can be. I hope my review helped you.

Easy to install and seals bottom of garage door.

To my understanding the screws that come with the package are not idel for the job (size too small) I replaced them with longer wood screws in my case wood door, besides that very happy with the product I recommend it to anyone, it took me about 30 min to install and that is pre-drilling the aluminium rails, one very important thing is that I consider this jod a two men job. I hope this help somebody.

I got this today and installed it in 1 1/2 hours. For those that complained that the holes in the strips were not drilled.... it came with self-drill screws, as the instructions said. They drill their own holes, so no need to get out your drills. Just don't over-tighten, the screw first drills through the aluminum, then the steel door bottom. The screws were sized right, and I had a 3/8" gap between the bottom of the door and the strips. My door came with a 18 foot steel strip that was pressed into the bottom of the door. One end got damaged, and I had to pull it out to straighten it, but could not get it to press back in. The cost to replace it from the business that installed the door was $85 service call, plus $160+ for the molding piece. So I was able to attach this to the door bottom even though it had been designed for the press-in steel piece with rubber weather strip. Also, this was easy to push in the rubber piece, and even though it was easier if one pulled and another fed it in straight, I was able to do it by myself. I pulled it through the slots as far as it would go, then went to the feed end and pushed it in as far as it would go, and repeated. It was 70 degrees outside so the rubber was not stiff. The manufacturer states the rubber is still flexible at low temperatures, though. It was not difficult to pull through because of how the rubber strip was wrapped tightly around the metal pieces in the packaging so it was deformed on the edges a but, and did not have to cut it. I still had a couple feet I cut off since it was more than 18 feet long. Anyway, I screwed each piece end to end and cut off the the excess on the end piece. I also got the rubber strip fed into the first piece a couple inches before screwing it on, as the instructions stated to do (otherwise it is difficult to feed in to get it started). Cut the end of the excess rubber strip off and that is it. I did not find any other product like this one available that would have worked in place of the piece I took off. I really tried to press that long steel piece back in, but it would not go back in. It may have been slid in before the bottom panel was bolted on the door. This product is lighter so easier on the springs. I am pleased to have this problem fixed well, and out of my hair.
