Product Description

The M-D Vinyl with Magnetic Strip Top and Sides Door Seal Kit for Steel Doors features a kerf design for channel fit doors to protect against drafts, moisture, dust and insects. Save on energy by sealing the top and sides of your door and keeping the heat or air conditioning from escaping. Made of premium vinyl, this product stays flexible in cold temperatures. The kerf design is easy to install by simply pressing it into the channel of the door jamb. It is best used with steel doors because the magnetic strip creates a physical connection to the door creating a tight seal on the top and handle side. This kit comes with three pieces, two 81" pieces for the vertical sides of the door frame, and one 36" piece for the top of the door frame. Before installation, cut to desired length using scissors.

I think these are the best choice for heavy use doors. The magnets provide a tight seal every time without needing to apply much effort or force to close the door. It might be a bit more expensive, but I think they're better in the long run.

I had to replace a seal at my mothers house and this worked perfectly. No tools required but a putty knife helps. Seems like good quality. Time will tell.

I have been looking for this type of weather seal for years. The installation instructions were clear and concise and the seals fit perfectly.

Love these weather strips. They are very easy to install. No glue No nails No tape. Just a Razor Blade, or, an Exacto Knife, is needed for installation. Simple.

Wonderful product but came with opened package and top magnetic strip is missing. Installed the pieces that came. Now what do I do? As some said, easy to install, use pliers to remove old one, slip on new one.

Happy to have purchased this product. It is ever so slightly thinner the the OEM it replaces. However, it works better than other products I tried. It provides a good seal, but I will determine how good a seal when winter rolls around. It is much better than other similar products. I will likely order this again.

Comes in a long shipping 'V', not bent or rolled so zero issues with kinks. Plan ahead before you cut, pull the old seal out and if you need to add a little length (1/8" etc.) add that to the cut before getting near the frame. Other point to keep in mind is do not push the kerf in 100% of the way. Start at the top and push only 3/4 of the way in and shut the door. Sometimes the kerf is out of alignment to the door. Let the door determine how far to push certain areas in. It will compress slightly over time, but you get many years out of it unless someone nicks the seals like they did in my case.Colour is a light creamy almond, think coffee with lots of cream. Not brown or dark almond / taupe. Good choice over white if you have almond trim or siding. Would buy again without hesitation....cheaper the HD as well by 10% and they do not carry almond.

Overall, excellent fit for my two Stanley entry doors. I had been trying to get a replacement for the latch side from the company that bought Stanley's entry door business (Masonite), but I was told they don't sell it separately. The latch side and the header pieces were exact, the hinge side was slightly different. After removing the old latch-side piece with some pliers, I tried to push in the new section, but it would not go in all the way at a few points. After examining the kerf cut into the door's frame, I noticed that Stanley had used staples to anchor the old weatherstrip from the outside of the doors' frame during their manufacturing process, and they were still protruding at four points.I then took an old flat blade screwdriver and tapped the "legs" of the staples so that they were pushed flat against the side of the kerf. The hinge-side kerf also had four staples, and the header had three staples holding the old weatherstripping in place. After pushing all those staple legs flat against the sides of the kerfs, everything went very smoothly.I used the old weatherstripping to cut the new weatherstripping to length (a good heavy pair of scissors made quick work of this task,)and pushed the new weatherstripping into the kerf, which holds very well. One installation tip for anyone who has the Stanley door: don't fully seat the bottom 12" or so on the latch-side. On my doors, there is a hard foam rubber "bumper" at the very bottom of the kerf that actually causes the bottom corner of the latch-side of the door to be pushed out. If you fully seat the weatherstripping at the bottom of the latch side, there is a chance you'll have to pull it out about an 1/8th of an inch (as I did). So, out of the three "ribs" that insert into the kerf, only insert two of them on the bottom 12" or so of the latch side - the door itself will insert it to the proper depth. The hinge side is not magnetic, it is a compression-type that caused quite a bit of resistance the first time I closed the door. I thought it might rip, so I "lubed" it with a silicone spray (I didn't want to use a petroleum-based product that might break down the vinyl). I don't know if that was really necessary, but I feel better for having done that.Overall, I'm very satisfied, though I was a bit shocked at the box it came in: an eight-inch square box that was SEVEN FEET IN LENGTH.
