My truck's battery goes dead if not driven every few days, so I have a small parasitic current draw and/or the effects of the Arizona heat. This device works well as a maintainer so that the battery is always fresh when I go to drive somewhere. I also purchased a short SAE extension cable to route the connector outside the front grill - I (or my wife) can disconnect it without opening the hood, and I mounted the charger to a nearby wall with AC power. Been using it a month without problems; a good value - recommended.

Tried it out on my car battery, left it on for 2 days charging, it still didn't charge the battery. I found out later that the battery was completely hooped so I had to buy a new battery. I'm sure the charger is great just didn't work out for me

Order 3. One for a spare. one still works. 3rd one today, would not turn on ( 5th use) Normally it takes a few seconds to show power on.. after a minute.. it got super hot and swelled a little. Tried to reach out to seller thru here. ANDDDDD! they have set up the required contact option to boomer rang a buyer back to amazon. Which is useless since they go out of the picture at 90 days. Called Amazon and they said they were unable to contact them as well. Another violation of their policy. Which is disturbing.. since the maker of this charger USE to be highly respected.

I actually bought this one and the 5 Amp model (for my truck) but since I sold the truck almost 2 years ago, I just use the 2 Amp one for my motorcycle. I also have a 0.5 Amp BatteryMinder that is couple of years older which I use. I tried both and left it on the bike sometimes 3-4 weeks and both of them worked the same. The advantage of 2 Amp Mroinge is, if the battery is really drained or I need to charge it quicker without any issues, the 2 Amp does so brilliantly where the 0.5 feels a bit weak and slow. One of the selling points of Mroinge charger was its being "waterproof" and I did test it to verify. After all, the reason why I was shopping for a new one was my expensive ($120) BatteryMinder that was capable of charging 4 vehicles at the same time, got damaged when it was submerged in couple of inches of water when in use.

Installed under the hood with limited space.Would have liked to have the power cord with a seperate connection like the wires to the battery, because the plug did not go through the holes in the grilled hood.

Able to charge lead acid or lithium 12volt batteries. Purchased to charge 100AH 12volt lithium batteries. worked fine but from a 60% charge to 100% it took about 8 hours to fully charge. So for the price its a good charger.

When my emergency backup generator didn't start during a recent power outage, I discovered the starter battery was dead, most likely of old age. I purchased and installed a new 12v battery and monitored its voltage. When the generator ran it's weekly 20 minute exercise cycle the voltage would increase to about 13.6v as it was being "charged" by the generator. Overnight (with temperatures dropping near freezing) the voltage dropped under 12, which isn't a good thing for trying to maintain a healthy battery. So I needed to come up with a better solution to keeping the battery topped-off, than the once-a-week boost from the generator.I settled on this unit because of it's variety of battery and charge settings, including ability to charge a lithium-ion battery which I have in my RV, and it's "smart" technology that I've learned is very important after ruining many batteries due to my negligence in maintaining properly.Loved that it came with optional connecting types and 'quick-connect' plug. TIP: set the battery type/charging mode after plugging unit in, but before connecting to battery. Just as the manual explains, the battery voltage reached and remained around 14.3v for a couple days (absorption stage) and has since been holding around 13.4v in the float stage. I may or may not leave the charger plugged in full-time as I monitor how well it will hold a full charge with a once-a-week charge from the generator during the summer when it is hotter and the battery looses less voltage overnight.

Edit:It's been 3 years since I bought this and it's still going strong. I've used it for mostly AGM battries and never had an issue over the years. I switched to Lifepo4 for my main system this year so this charger has been on 24/7 for the past 8 months (not counting random power outages) keeping my 12v emergency lights, 100Ah battery alive and well. It's a great battery maintainer for standard 100Ah deep cycle AGMs and a solid charger for small lead acid battries. Increasing rating from 4 to 5 stars. Best value for money in my opinion.Oct 2017:Been using it for a couple months and it hasn't failed. When I first fired it up it got really hot while fast charging and I was worried but it has not warped or shown signs of heat damage. It's used almost every day to recharge a small bank off generator power. I was skeptical about buying something with so little reviews but my gamble paid off.
