The motorcycle charger has a 3.1 amp output and a handy on-off switch which is good if you directly connect it to the battery and want to make sure there is no power draw from the unit. It also has a light to remind you that it is on. It has a bracket to connect it to the handlebars, and has 2x USB-A sockets. It is a bit bulky on the handlebars, but overall a nice charger.

The USB charger works great as it has a long cable which is a concern with these. There is a on/off switch that can easily be toggled and a cover for the USB outlet for weatherproof. There is no display of voltage which would have been nice. Charges my phone fine and works with both my starter battery and marine battery.

I am in the process of customizing an old sports car and some of the new electronics I am installing are USB powered. Even though this is meant for a motorcycle it's a perfect way for me to add a pair of USB ports under the dash to power the electronic upgrades I am integrating into the car. The device is well made and has a nice long power cord attached to it, so I can mount it anywhere I need under the dash. The on/off button is an nice feature that I may use when I store the car for the winter. I can see how the rubber cap would be a great addition if I were installing on a bike as it would be protected from the elements when not is use. For me it's a great way to get the USB power I need in a nice compact package and at a reasonable price.

I was trying to wire this up to my Surron so I could power my GPS backup battery. Unfortunately, I installed it incorrectly the first time. Once I realized my mistake, I rewired it correctly but it didn't work. I then removed it and tested it at my work bench. It didn't work at my work bench anymore after that. It seems that I may have fried the device by wiring it incorrectly. Unfortunately I never really got a chance to try this device for real.Although it was certainly user error that broke this USB device, it would have been nice if there was some built in polarity protection. I don't think its out of the realm of possibility that someone would accidentally wire this thing up wrong and damage the device. To my knowledge, it shouldn't be too difficult to build in some reverse polarity protection for a 12V circuit. I'm no expert on circuit design (obviously since I wired it wrong) but reverse polarity protection should be easy enough to build in to this.
