The mailbox I received was obviously used and missing parts. If you like poor quality control and mindless shipping, this is for you!

Sturdy post. Not difficult to assemble. Dresses up the front of the home. Does requires separate purchase of mailbox. The plant area isn't very large. Would purchase again.

We love our new mailbox! It’s very sturdy and we are able to put flowers in the extra opening. You have to buy the mailbox separately but the base is beautiful. We started a trend and our neighbors have been replacing their old and tired mailboxes! It took a lot of work to install. My husband went to home depot and bought all he needed to complete the install, but it adds up. In all, he spent over $300.

For those of you that are debating whether or not to buy this based on your mailbox size, oversized mailboxes will work with this with minor changes. All you need to do is buff up the lag bolts that connect the arm to the mailbox post. I went to the hardware store and bought some longer and wider lag bolts to replace the ones that came with it. The lag bolts are screwed into the wodden post so the arm is sturdy and does not budge. I had to drill 4 small holes in the bottom of my mailbox to allow me to use some flat head screws to attach the mailbox to the support arm. Those 2 things are very easy to do and doesn't require a lot of effort. Doing that, you can install any size box you want without the fear of it not being able to support it. The mailbox I used is a all metal oversized mailbox and a little over 20lbs and it doesn't budge or sag due to the weight. I also bought the optional solar cap. The solar cap only comes in black or white so I painted mine to match the color of the post.

Very nice post cover, seems quite sturdy and easy to install over the pressure treated 4x4. The interior of the polyethylene post was made with exceptional dimensions. By that I mean it fit very tightly around the 4 x 4 post with no wobble. I did use another suggestion from one review saying to use stainless steel screws instead of the galvanized ones in the kit. But I would’ve done that with anything outside exposed to the elements. I put it in 3.5 feet with the remaining 56" of post showing, so there was no waste. (And below the frost line) Have had many compliments on where I got it. I also purchased the available post top solar light. I lined the interior top and bottom portions with aluminum tape to help reflect the light at night, seems to work pretty well but the solar light doesn’t keep lit all through the night. The light really does add a finishing touch, but for what you get the cost is right up there. All in all though I’m glad I did purchase the top light.Very pleased.....now only if the snowplow guy doesn't take it out. The black post has a muted slightly pebbled finish which gives the illusion of solid cast iron and it does look very nice at the road. Couldn’t ask for more, looks beautiful.

I just finished installing this mail post and have to say it looks great but there should have been more thought in how it is made for the install. I am concerned this won't hold up well over time, but I hope it does because this wasn't cheap. There needed to be more thought put into the product. The basket that holds the flowers has a drain hole in the bottom, however there is another drain hole in the hollow "bar" that attaches to the bottom portion of the planter. The "bar" should be solid and not hollow because water will drain down it and on the backside of the post and I can only imagine what stains will take place after some time. If it was solid (or covered) the water would drain out and away from the pole rather than on it.Mounting the mailbox is a bit of a challenge as this is all hollow. I choose to attach the mailbox from the inside, down into the plastic base but since it is hollow I had to drill a hole all the way through and attach a bolt and nut to secure it. The nut and a portion of the bolt can be seen in the paper holder section. I would have liked to secure it from the sides of the mailbox like I did on the wooden post but I would be securing it into a hollow plastic wall which wouldn't work well over time.Other than the lack of engineering the design is really nice and my neighbor came by during my install and said great, now I have to buy a new mailbox and laughed. Then she said just watch in a week people will be putting up new mailboxes. I'm not one of those "keeping up with the Jones's" folks but will be able to see which of my neighbors are. HahaPros:Looks very niceFairly easy to installCons:Everything is hollow and not sure how it will hold upCould use a few modifications from the manufacturer to make this a smarter and easier install of the mailboxWater from the planter drains directly on the pole (which will probably cause some staining in the future)
