We use a mesh muzzle to prevent our shepherd mix from eating things outside. His previous one lasted three years, but was getting worn out so I decided to purchase this one since I liked the design more. The old one had a hole for the nose, but he learned to scoop things into that hole which defeated the purpose. This one was designed with no hole, so I thought it was a good idea. It arrived and smelled heavily of plastic and chemicals, but the smell disappeared quickly. Unfortunately after a week it is completely ruined. There are several splits and holes and it's completely unusable.

Lasted 9 months then ripped across the part that goes across the nose. Not sure if that's good or bad since this is the just time we've used something like this.

Don’t wait until you have to take your puppy to the veterinarian for intestinal issues because he is eating and grabbing everything he can find to get in his mouth like mulch, rocks, bugs, bird feathers / poop or potentially toxic plants. Our puppy is spirited, persistent - and fast. We almost renamed him Rocket. This soft mesh muzzle keeps him from eating the “no-no” items and can help with keeping your puppy from using your hands as a chew toy while teething. Make sure they have plenty of chewing objects like a yak cheese stick, deer antler, cow hoof and good quality rubber chew toys.

I've used it for several weeks, it keeps my dog from eating rodents, but he still gets to chase them. It makes him less bold - so he doesn't chase deer anymore, which I love. Best of all, it also makes him less agressive toward other dogs and those few people (the ones that come on his territory) that he finds threatening. Bonus, this muzzle isn't as scary as the more hefty ones for people who see it on my dog and they therefore don't act afraid of him so he doesn't get all puffed up around him. He hasn't tried to drink with it on, but usually I'm somewhere I can just take it off him so he can drink. It does seem possible, but I haven't had the need to train him to do it. He doesn't love it, he'll try to take it off, but it's quite secure even though I don't have it as snug as it could be.

My border collie had injured his leg and when recovering with a plastic cone he was running round the house smashing into doors and walls until he managed to break the reinforced plastic and get to his wound. Tried an inflatable cone but he could still get to his wound with it being on his hind leg he was able to stretch his leg out and still lick it with the cone on. Last option was always going to be the muzzle and it worked!! He didn't like it at first when it was first put on him however he's grown used to it, doesn't seem stressed with it on his face. Easy to take on and off to allow him to eat and drink (advert states the dogs can still drink with it on but this is definitely not correct). However the can definitely breathe and pant like normal which i think is what's allowed him to be quite relaxed now wearing it. Definatley recommd to anybody who's having trouble with cones/recovery of wounds. 100% stops the licking. Would also make a perfect humane muzzle for anyone who has a reactive dog with tendancing to bite/snap etc. It has stayed on all day so far, very secure. Would recommend to others.

The best thing about this muzzle is that it is made of mesh. This is not a hard faced muzzle. Instead it is comfortable and flexible. It is also subject to wear and may need to replaced sooner than a traditional hard muzzle. That is the trade off for both the lower price and greater comfort for your pet.My dog was starved as a puppy, abandoned young, and had to forage for food. As a result she will always act as if she is desperately hungry even when her stomach is full. This is common among rescued dogs. She is always foraging even when well fed and on a leash. Before we found this product, she had required major abdominal surgery twice because she swallowed things she could not pass before I could spot the potentially lethal item on the ground. (Her nose and mouth were much closer than my eyes. With this product, I can walk her around the neighborhood without having to fear that she will find something some careless person dropped before I can spot the thing that could kill her. With this muzzle on she can breathe freely, drink water and sniff to her heart's content. She can run freely and play in the dog park while I watch without worry about what she might find on the ground. This is not a muzzle for a mean dog. It is one for a dog that you want to be a safe and healthy member of your family for their long natural life.

I purchased a Large for my Shetland Sheepdog after taking the measurements as instructed. It was too large and actually obstructed his vision. I initiated a return in order to purchase the next size down, Medium. I left the return at a UPS store for a $1.00 charge but when I received the email verifying the receipt of the returned muzzle, $6.99 was deducted from the $14.99 purchase price for return shipping! Nearly half the cost. Muzzle appears to be durable and of good quality IF you know exactly what size you need and no risk of needing to exchange/return the muzzle.

We have a 7mo golden retriever who so far has cost us over $1700 in vet bills because he eats EVERYTHING except what he should. He is so fast that we can't stop him before it's down his throat. Tried other basket muzzles but he gets them off lightning fast or they simply don't fit and have no flexibility and rub him raw. This one has its positives and negatives but it's far better for our use than any other that we've tried. It completely covers the mouth but gives him lots of air - but it is soft and flexible so it fits his muzzle the best so far. BUT - this flexibility makes it more delicate and I just know it won't last as long as the others. The positives outweigh this so far. I've ordered 2 more to be replacements when this wears out. We only need to use this outside so we are always with him when it's on but I can promise you that if he was given time alone with it, it would be off pretty quickly - but still better than some others. In my opinion, any use of a muzzle should be supervised to be successful.

I got this to stop my Doberman from chewing on her leg. It worked at first but didn’t take long before she was able to chew through the muzzle. It was also a little short for my Doberman’s nose but the circumference was too big. I wasn’t sure what size to order since her measurements fell in 2 different sizes. She had a 9.5 snout circumference ( size M ) but 4.5 snout length ( size XL ) so I ordered a large but it was right on her nose. In hindsight I should have ordered XL so it would be longer but overall there was already a lot of extra strap so I can’t imagine how bad that would have been with an XL. The middle strap between the eyes was always in her eyes too. It is obviously made for dogs with larger heads so I would not recommend for a Doberman - even if you don’t expect them to chew through it.Muzzle would be ok for other dogs as long as you aren’t getting it to prevent chewing.
